About Me
Biking, racquetball, Mozart, Monty Python, Jethro Tull, skiing, National Lampoon (back in the late 70's), Paul Simon, Detroit Symphony, DIA, Queen, John Singer Sargent, DAC, Harbor Springs, John Irving, Barenaked Ladies, Mark Knopfler, and on and on ...
My screen name comes from the fact that I'm a licensed private pilot, but I don't fly much anymore - I got addicted to audiobooks and now appreciate the opportunity to spend a few hours driving up north and losing myself in a good one.
I'm the owner of a direct mail advertising and printing company located in Highland Park, and I enjoy doing things impulsively as much as I do planning an exciting adventure. I have a historic home in Grosse Pointe and a condo at Nub's Nob in Harbor Springs. During the summer I'm usually on my bike, at a concert or up north. During the winter I m usually walking, playing racquetball, working out every day, or going to DSO concerts, plays at the Fisher Theater, movies, pop concerts, etc. Winter is also a good time to just burrow in and get caught up on old movies or spend a Sunday roaming around the DIA.
I'm also a big MSU fan - I bleed green and white. Be sure to ask me how many UofM graduates it takes to screw in a light bulb.
I lead a very active life and hope to meet someone with lots of energy. I think I have a good balance of physical activity and relaxing in my life - they're both very important given the stresses we all find ourselves under these days.
I'm a recovering alcoholic - sober since 1991 - but I've never minded someone who enjoys a glass of wine or drink with dinnner and most of my friends have pretty much forgotten that aspect of me since I never make a big deal about it.
I have a very wide range of knowledge and never tire of learning new things. For that reason I was able to make the cut to be on the game show "Jeopardy!" a few years ago.
I'm independent politically. I feel that we all have a responsibility - especially in these very trying times - to educate ourselves to current issues so we can make the right decisions. I always judge a candidate by his positions, never on his party affiliation.
I would like to meet a partner, someone who is both sophisticated and basic, and who can tell me when I m being a jerk. This would be the last person I think about at night and the first person I think about in the morning, and I would occupy the same position in her life. I would rather stay single than settle for less than what I want.
The current economic situation has curtailed my ability for lavish spending, but I've found it refreshing to see how much I can be frugal and still have fun. I think all of us are going to have to find a more responsible way to treat our financial resources. All in all, that's a good thing. In other words, if you're looking for someone who's into conspicuous consumption, I'm not your guy. If you're looking for someone to have sensible fun with - events around town, bike rides, walks, cultural and social happenings, interesting conversation - you should absolutely take a chance on me.
I've been asked about my photos at Comerica Park. Chuck is one of my best friends, and he very generously asked me to join him on the field for two hours before a game in late August while he did his weather from there. I'm a huge Tigers fan and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity.
One last thing - I m so much fun you're going to want to shoot milk out of your nose. .
First Date
I have so many interests that finding something to do on a first date is pretty easy. What's tougher, of course, is finding someone fun to do it with. Let me know if you think that's you ...
