Note: I am not a fan of sports. Any, really. If you are a sports nut hoping to find someone to share your passion, I am NOT your girl. This is not to say I'm unwilling to attend the OCCASIONAL game (yes, I definitely prefer seeing live games to watching any on tv), but it's not my thing.
Note part the second: I am not interested in being a parent. I am even less interested in being a parental figure to your children. I am adamant in this, it's not something you can hope to change.
Okay, now that that's out of the way...
I've got a pretty great group of friends to hang out with, but it'd be nice to not be an odd wheel when they 'couple up.' I'm active in the Society for Creative Anachronism (www.sca.org) and would hope to share that obsession, I mean hobby, with a person who might, at some point, become a 'significant other.' My persona is early period Irish (when Brian Boru was trying to unite the kingdoms of Eire). I am mostly active in the Arts & Sciences, though I enjoy thrown weapons practice (especially axes), and am considering returning to archery. Heavy weapons (armored with sword & shield or similar) or fencing, not for me.
I have 2 spinning wheels, and my roommate just adopted one in need of some work. Yes, I'm one of those crazy people who enjoys doing things the hardest way possible. I make my own yarn. Sometimes I even make things out of that yarn. Other days, I make things from store-bought yarn. I admit it, I'm a fiberholic! There is no cure. My friends & I also make our own garb for SCA events (medieval-period clothing, for those without an SCA-mundane dictionary). I crochet, weave, knit, embroider, and dabble in other Arts & Sciences, when the mood strikes.
I love spending time in the outdoors, tho sometimes a night in, watching a movie is great, too. I'm rather liberal in my political views, as well as religious, so while the world is large enough for Bush/Cheney enthusiasts, (and I do have friends who are republicans), please do not hope to convert me to your way of thinking.

I'm new to NoVa, so I'd be up for discovering a great local restaurant, taking my dog to one of the nearby parks, or any number of things.
