I am a retired, but not tired, man who loves history, travel, garage and estate sales, light exercise, walking, fishing, exploring new places, golf, watching baseball and football, TV dramas like CSI and Criminal Minds, local and national news, The History Channel, and The Antiques Roadshow on PBS. I like quiet candlelit dinners with my partner, cuddling, romantic evenings, smooth jazz, classical and Rat Pack-type music. I like going out for lunch and dinner on occasion, and exploring local sights. I haven't danced in years, but I used to enjoy it, but only with my partner. I like to read, and it's usually the newspaper daily, Smithsonian magazine, National Geographic, American Heritage, and Sports Illustrated. When I have time, I read non-fiction books, usually about history. I am very affectionate and considerate and like to make breakfast or an occasional dinner for my partner. I help around the house as requested, and enjoy evenings at home as well as going out on occasion. I love to play board and card games, love crossword puzzles and once in a while a jigsaw puzzle. I do not like reality or game show TV and I may be the only man in America who hates peanut butter, broccoli and asparagus (and, of course, liver). I drink mostly water and pop, a glass of wine on occasion, a beer very infrequently. However, a Margarita is heavenly! I am extroverted, a good conversationalist, and love all types of puns and one-liners (longer jokes are usually not as funny versus the effort needed to listen to them). Pulling one's leg is a specialty of mine.

If it's to get acquainted, I like to meet a lady for lunch (my treat, of course). If it is truly a first date, I like to take a lady to dinner, either formally or informally, though I tend to be very informal and love wearing shorts, but not on a first date. By sharing a meal, there is time to talk and get better acquainted. If the lady has a picnic, visit to a zoo, or some other venue she would rather go to, I am open to that, but those usually would be for later dates.
