I have come to a place wherein I am quite simply happy being a bachelor. I do, however, still wish to meet interesting new friends and acquaintances. I don't wish to be crass, but in today's world certain assumptions are made unless stated otherwise, so: When I say that I am a bachelor and looking for friendship, I do not mean that I am looking for intimacy without obligation. I am a single Christian gentleman, and I live a Christian life (as best I am able, by the grace of God). That means that I am celibate.

I remain open to the possibility that I will meet and fall in love with someone but that happens as it happens and until then, I am no longer "dating".

I have little use for status, pretense, politics, or ambition, and none at all for lies, games, gossip, or stupidity. The world is being overrun by garbage, evil, and ugliness; but there are also still islands of beauty, goodness, and truth scattered about, and I wish to spend the rest of my time here finding and enjoying them. The exquisite sadness of finishing a beloved book; the power of a Stradivari to reach all the way to the bottom of one's soul; the smell and feel of a sea-breeze; the sound of wind in the leaves; the simple joy of finding goodness in a stranger: these are the things I seek to experience. And while doing so alone is perfectly acceptable, sharing them with a kindred spirit would transform beauty to sublimity.

The things I admire in a woman are:

Character - That is, virtue, strength of conviction, grace, charm, nobility of spirit...you get the idea.
Class - If I have to explain, you don't have it. Not to be confused with wealth, for some of the crassest of people are the richest and vice versa.
Intelligence - I want to be able to talk to you about everything that interests either of us, without having to constantly explain myself or being bored to tears by the banality of your conversation.
Beauty - Obviously. But notice that it's last on my list. And I mean both physical beauty and the other, more important kind.

What I have to offer:

Character - I don't ask anything of you that I haven't already required of myself. In truth, I'll hold myself to an even higher standard.
Class - I am a gentleman. I am not, however, a snob or a fop. Some of the best things in life are the simplest, and I'm just as likely to be found listening to Led Zeppelin as to Ludwig van Beethoven.
Intelligence - You'll see.
Strength - Physical strength, but also the other, more important kind.

Lastly, it's important that you know that I do not allow myself to be defined or directed by what the rest of the world believes. I seek Truth, and when I find it, I hold fast to it: opinions be damned.

I don't wish to date, but perhaps we could eventually do something together as friends.
