I'm not a man for just any woman... I've taken the time to think about who I am, what I want in a partner and will not settle for less than I deserve. Truth be told, I am a people person and open to sharing my life with a woman; but also a realist... would rather be alone than with someone that doesn't fit my lifestyle. Contrary to belief in some circles that mystery generates interest; I am visual and anyone with a vague profile, blurry, distant, dark or no photo will be less attractive... After all this profile process is a pre-qualification. I may respond to a great photo, but to get to talking on the phone or meeting, there must be some communication of attraction or commonality or my interest will not last beyond a couple of messages. I won't do IM and have little time for email penpal with no chance of a meeting... although may agree to a 'what's on your mind' phone conversation with select interested and interesting, fun, like minds.

I worked in the telecommunications industry for 25 years... I've been a union leader and active in my community in my previous life in the Twin Cities until several years ago when I moved north to get away from increasing petrochemical pollution. I'm retired with multiple chemical sensitivity; now working at recreating my life, find ways to do the things that I enjoy and have more fun this time around. I live alone in my comfortable small home in the woods I call 'pairadice'. I live a simple life, have a good routine and work on it everyday... I appreciate the company of good friends who understand that I've worked hard to craft a life around chemical sensitivity. I make occasional day trips to the Cities and Stillwater and love spending time at the North Shore beyond Duluth, especially around Grand Marais. I've finished building a craft studio in my barn so that I have a place to work when I feel creative and not mess up my living space.

My everyday style is colorful hippie, but I clean up well and dress for an occasion. I am an eclectic Pagan and shy away from the intolerant religious that are not Pagan friendly. My political opinions are just to the right of left, but not so far as to be confused with 'moderate'... And I won't even argue with those on the far right; too much like religious zealots. I smoke, however not much and would like to quit... smoke Natural American Spirits and can't tolerate the chemicals added to tobacco in most cigarettes. I take care of myself, exercise regularly and cook pretty well. I'm not perfect and want the same kind of tolerance and understanding that I extend to others to be reciprocated.

I like video and books of news, technical, historical and nature documentary. Thriller and action flicks do not move me, but I will watch an occasional comedy or drama. If I'm in the mood I'll watch Seinfeld or Will and Grace reruns (I like Julia and Debra) if they’re particularly funny or Jay Leno’s guests haven’t caught my attention. Beyond that, I couldn't care less about professional gladiator sports, the next American idol, stupid reality or game shows on television. Although not easily portrayed in profile or message, I am witty and have a great sense of humor once I know I won't be misunderstood.

My daughters are grown and on their own... they say while I'm over 50, I look 40, act like 30 and still think I'm 20. I love my girls and an 8 year old grandson who refers to me as "long hair Tampa up north" although he is the only one who gets by with that... lol.. The woman I'm seeking would enjoy a fun, passionate, romantic relationship. I would enjoy the company of a creative, artistic, interested and interesting woman that enjoys a variety of activities; feels comfortable discussing, learning or teaching and not afraid to experience new adventures, road tripping and an occasional camping adventure... I live in the middle of no-where Minnesota, near lakes and rivers. If you are from the Twin Cities, Twin Ports, Stillwater or anywhere there is significant pollution, know that while I may be able to visit you on a good day, I can't spend much time there. If we click, you would enjoy spending more time with me away from those places.

This may seem a tall order; however, it would be helpful if the woman I'm with has an interest, or better, some knowledge of the the mysteries of herbs, nutritional supplements and alternative natural therapies that have been ignored by traditional western medicine. Beyond that a longing to know more, not accept the lies and distortions so prevalent in our society and a curiosity about getting to the truth. I am height/weight proportionate and my desire is that you be also... I don't mind a little thickness and don't want to be negative, however IMO 'average' or 'few pounds over' means at most 15 or 20% over 'statistical' H/W proportion, in good shape, living a reasonably healthy lifestyle.

All that said, I am not expecting a barbie doll; although I would like to be with a woman who feels more girly-girl than tomboy. You know how to take care of yourself mentally, physically, carry yourself well, feel attractive and confident. You feel comfortable wearing a casual dress or jeans and a tee with classy sandals, flip-flops or sneakers and being dressed to the nines depending on the occasion. I like to see a little color to accentuate positive features and appreciate women who know how to use attractants; a little lipstick or nail color is always a turn on, however I am not moved by most makeup and can't tolerate personal care products that contain artificial fragrance. I seem to be ok with many products that are natural and non-allergenic, including most essential oils. I notice when one takes care of their feet; they tend to be more in touch with themselves... lol.. And I don't want my feet to look better than yours. Appreciate yourself, age gracefully and enjoy life.

Something else to consider... I've written many first messages without getting a reply... in some cases unread; I don't do well reading minds in person, much less from a distance. If I take the time to send a message it would be good to see a reply... even if 'thanks, not interested'. I admit that I don't know everything, but I am intelligent, my sh*t-detector is well tuned and I'm definitely not into cat/mouse game-playing. Not a player and will not be played for anyone's fool.

If you feel we may be complementary... What's stopping you from writing a message? It may be difficult to notice you in the crowd; do something to attract my attention... push the favorite button if you're not inclined to write a first message. Take a chance; it's not as risky as buying a lottery ticket and so much more satisfying.

To get to a perfect first date, we must first agree on a perfect first meeting... My thoughts: Low key, you, me, coffee or tea, something good to eat, nice little place; maybe some soft music, not too noisy. It will be easy to stay or move on without too much trouble.

I'm drawn to independent coffee shops, small restaurants and cafes that serve homemade, wholesome American and ethnic foods... I enjoy outdoor art, music, community gatherings and street dances. I might try a small town bar/grill for lunch or off nights, but must avoid chain restaurants or anywhere that serves processed foods, with poor ventilation and large crowds.
