I don't think that you have to spend a lot of $ in order to have a good first date (or any date for that matter). Let's face it, the first date is where you want to get to know who you are with. A good imagination is a great thing also. Going to the beach, a small (inexpensive) restaurant are good things. I once went on a first date that was creative and fantastic! We went to the Port of Miami, took pictures of the City of Miami and then we went to develop the pictures that we took. How great was that? Not expensive and great fun with many kisses in between. Loved it and didn't want the date to end. ;). Then hopefully you are attracted to the person and there's some physical happening, kissing, holding hands, you know. I'm a very touchy feely woman. I love that kind of stuff and hopefully you do too because I'm very sensual/sexual...Take a chance. I'm one cool lady.
I've been quite the international traveler and for some reason have always come back to Miami. I'm reading a book now called "Marley & Me". When I worked for the City of Miami, Department of Film and Cultural Affairs and we happened to be filming that very movie here where I work. The author of the book described Miami like I've never heard it be described before "it's a pulsating ethnic stew". That's exactly why I love love love it here.
