It seems that lately I have been getting involved with ladies who are emotionally unavailable due to excess baggage from their pasts. We all have a past and have gone through both good and bad experiences. My belief is that we can learn and grow from our experiences and move forward from there. If I have learned anything it is that I can only control my own actions and it is my desire to be good to those whom I love.
I usually become best friends with the women in my life. I have really tried to become sensitive to the needs of others and I really want to be a good man and meet the needs of the person who I am with. I try to put myself in the womans shoes and do the things that she likes and will appreciate. I like to do the little things like flowers and cards but have sometimes been accused of overdoing it in this respect. I am sincere to the point that I am sometimes accused of revealing too much about myself.
I am very communicative and am probably an atypical man in that respect. I guess that is why I easily become close friends with significant others. I believe in being open and honest in relationships and in sharing openly ones feeling, needs, and desires. I think that we naturally treat others in the way that we want to be treated. Usually we give what we want to receive in return. Sometimes that is a good thing but I find that it is best to listen to the other person for what they want and need instead of assuming that you know.
I like listening to live music and going out for dinner, festivals, or whatever. I like to go shopping for myself or with my lady. I enjoy playing golf and most sports activities but am not obsessed with it. I strive to be communicative and compromising in relationships and to find common interests and activities to enjoy together.
I have had responses relating to whether I am seeking "Dating" or a "Long Term" relationship. Well, neither one of those seem to fit exactly. I want to date for now with the goal being to find the person whom I can spend the rest of my life with as I am a one woman man. Someone on here questioned me on that and I thought maybe I should change it from dating to long-term. After changing it I had second thoughts and changed it back. I don't want to appear to be a player or over eager to get married either. You have to take things one-at-a-time and dating does come first. I won't be ready to consider moving to long-term until the right woman comes along and then it will be a given. I hope that I have been concise in my explanations.

I would want to discuss it with my date and figure out something that we would both enjoy doing. It is not as important what you are doing as it is who you are with. If the chemistry is there and you enjoy each others company you can have fun doing anything or nothing. It would probably be a good thing on the first date to be in an environment that was condusive to good conversation so that we could get to know one another but that would be assuming that we hadn't first gotten to know each other via other means first.
