About Me
A witty sense of humour and a big heart are traits I've convinced myself I possess. I read, write and draw, love hearing new ideas, sharing points of view and laughing. I am a well balanced individual, leaning slightly toward the creative. I am playful, nurturing, affectionate and loyal, and am overjoyed when these are reciprocated. Oh, I'm also brooding, aloof and edgy.
I am hoping to meet creative, intelligent and good-natured people. When I say creative I don't mean that you have to be a painter or a kazoo prodigy, as I am, I mean that I like people with an abstract sort of outlook or humour, or at least the ability to go there. A young woman who is a bit unconventional, playful, wise, open-minded, affectionate and relaxed (or posesses any combination of two of these qualities) is who I would eventually like to meet and subsequently smooch. I also have a slight weakness for bookishness or nerdiness and biggish noses for some reason(seriously).
I spend a lot of time biking around town and busying myself or scribbling and pondering in my 'office'. I do however, love film and books and music very much, food (like everyone) and make time for all. I canoe-trip in the North when I can. I did a week-long solo trip in Temagami this summer that I've been sticking my chest out about lately. I started snowboarding last winter and would be unable to wait for the snow to fall again if I didn't cringe at the thought of the snow falling again. I am very manly and have a deep voice.
Now here is the "what I like" as opposed to the "what I'm like" (Hornby):
Books/Authors:****ns,( haha it won't let me write Charles ****ns! Anyway, rhymes with Charles Chickens) Asimov, Orwell, Russo, Rand, Twain, Steinbeck, Chuck Klosterman, Bill Bryson. Jonathon Livingston Seagull was one of the first books that I really liked (aside from Richard scary and the one kids book with the tissue-paper caterpillar illustrations). I had to read Crabbe by William Bell in high school and ended up scooping the copy and still have it. It's a little corny now but I identified then. The Hitchhickers Guide series is hillarious. Catch 22 as well. A book called Ant Farm made me laugh more in an hour than my first funeral (joke). There's a million books, i'm sure. I'm always trying stuff out and never really nail down 'What I like'. I like what has a little depth, good language and not too much shmaltz. A little shmaltz is okay. Right now I'm reading Empire Falls by Richard Russo and am enjoying it. How about you?
Music: LCD sound system, Skip James, The Black Keys, John Lee Hooker, Bloc Party, Led Zeppelin, The Pharcyde, Big Business, Cat Power, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Al Green, Dandy Warhols, Arcade Fire, High on Fire, BSS, Gomez, Wilco, QOTSA, System of a Down, Ray Charles, Travis, The Smalls, Blind Willie Mctell, Nick Drake, Stephan Grappelli, Tom Waits, Sigur Ros, Sarah Harmer, wolf parade, Phillip Glass. note on music: (or) music note Baha! : I'm not a real scenester/hipster. Though, I suspect I may be and not know it. Paradox. I'm not even really that in to shows. I go to them sometimes but often get bored and wind up quasi soused.
First Date
Something relaxed and comfortable. That's pretty vague. There is a show at the ROM right now I would like to see. I like the idea of a drink and a stroll. Museum, garage sale, Dog-show, pony-show, dog and pony show, puppet-show, peep-show. I'm open.
