I have been on this site for a while now, and have been able to correspond with quite a few very nice and interesting people. If I haven't replied, please accept my apologies. This is a result of not enough hours in the day, and some computer problems i have recently had.

Just gone back to graduate school to get my 3rd (and hopefully last) degree. In two years, i hope to find a position as an information specialist (newspeak for librarian.)I am fairly busy, and like most students, I do not have a lot of money in the bank or free time, but i am a good, intelligent conversationalist, so maybe the lack of caviar at dinner will go unnoticed (I do make a killer pasta dinner!!!lol)If it takes me a while to reply to you, please forgive me...time can be at a premium, some times.

So, why am I here. Been separated/divorced for a while, and I am back in the city after being away for a few years. A lot of my friends are busy with their own lives, so i am looking to make some new friends. i put my listing under "dating" with a little concern, because I am not looking for an "instant relationship" - love at first sight only happens in movies, IMHO. Like most, i would like to meet that special someone, but i am in no hurry to do so. Relationships, like anything worthwhile, often needs time to develop fully, and a solid friendship must be the foundation for anything more. That being said, I am a very loyal and trustworthy friend, whether we talk once a day or once a year!!

so, a bit more about myself...I was raised with very old-fashioned manners; i open doors, and pull out seats for ladies, not because they cannot do this themselves. just a sign or respect. I enjoy a mix of the old and the new, from the latest gizmo (to look at, anyway) to the reading of an old classic, bound in leather. I read a lot, moreso when I have the time. Went two years without a tv, and still don't watch much; i'd rather read a good book, or barring that, a movie on video. i have MANY interests (the list will grow) and while not planning to scale Everest anytime soon, i like to explore the outside.


I can describe myself as a kind, considerate man with a nice smile and a good sense of humour; I am an optimist, for the most part, and try to see the joy in most things..i am looking for the same in a "girl next door" type of woman, but one with perhaps a bit of an edge. I realize that I am not a Brad Pitt look-alike (more Shrek??!! lol) but, for good or for bad, there must be some attraction both ways. I am not looking for a Jennifer Aniston, but someone who takes pride in her appearance (I do have a soft spot for petite to average-framed or even a little curvaceous, redheaded or brunette women, but not exclusively! lol!!)I appreciate women that are comfortable in their own skin. I also find piercings and professional tattoos to be very attractive. You have seen me, so a picture of yourself in return is only courteous; please don't anticipate a reply without one.

one last thing, not least. I have a rough patch of health this past yeay (much better now, thanks) but as a result I am waiting for a kidney transplant. This doesn't effect me much day-to-day, but there are a few things (swimming, drinking beer) that I cannot do for the moment. I still think that what I can do remains far more interesting than the few restrictions i have. And, ladies, we all like"long walks on the beach." Tell me what you are passionate about!!! What makes you special?

geez, survival comes to mind; maybe something low-key, like sitting in the park having a picnic (we all gotta eat!!) If there is mutual attraction for something deeper, I like the concept of "courting" rather than dating...doing those little things that add up to say how special you are
