About Me
Welcome to my profile! I am grateful to enjoy many gifts with which to engage life: intelligent, articulate, compassionate, personable, educated, passionate, spiritually- aware and growing, humor-monger, reflective, and much more. I am a lifelong learner. "The most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself." I truly believe life is for loving...loving life which comes best with a life rich with love, both loving and being loved. OK, I realize there may be some who are freaking out reading all my uses of the L word here. But you can stop sweating, as I am using this word in a more expansive and metaphysical/ethical sense and only incidentally in the more restricted sense of 'romantic love.' Even though romantic love can be the most exhilirating type of love, it is truly ALL the love in our lives that truly makes life grand. I'm looking first to meet new people, make new friends, and enjoy new experiences in life. I am also open to finding a life partner if that kind of connection develops.
Some of what I like to do: Long-distance bike riding, work out 4-5 times a week amd thrive on the boost working out gives to my mood and vitality. Tennis has become a significant activity in my life that last few years. It certainly wasn't something I anticipated but my older son (presently 20) got into tennis big time and it became a great way for he and I to connect. He definitely got me hooked! (Hope you don't mind my borrowing the 'fishing' motif!)
I also enjoy going out to eat (especially ethnic foods) and I am also a fairly decent cook. Thai and Asian food is my specialty but I have a pretty extensive repertoire. I work in management in a job that allows me to make a positive difference in helping people who are hurting in our world. While sometimes very stressful, I appreciate so much the sense of fulfillment I find in it because it is a job that embodies many of my core values.
I have three children (ranging in age from 17-23) and sometimes they stay with me. Whether they do or not, they are very important to me. That doesn't mean I bring them into my social life but it does mean that they are a priority in terms of what I do with my discretionary time. I have pictures I can share of my primary house companions. An avowed dog person for most of my life (and I still love dogs) I never would've seen myself with cats. But life can be funny that way and I have a bond with these guys (I can't believe I'm saying this!) and appreciate what their companionship brings to my life. I've learned through my experience here that some wonderful people are allergic to feline creatures. Unfortunately that would make developing a relationship with me pretty difficult.
Speaking of the 'fishing' motif here, while the image isn't my favorite, it is inherently positive and abundant. There are PLENTY of possibilities. In many profiles, a quite contrasting motif is often cited: needle in the haystack! This is an inherently negative and limiting motif. Believe me, I get it, and I know it can be very difficult (especially for us with some years of experience that have honed our preferences to laser-like specificity (oh my gosh, another image, no, no, no!) to find the one. But is there really only ONE person in the whole wide world/web that we can share the kind of love connection we seek?? Hey, one is just a step away from NONE! What do you think?
First Date
It really does depend on many factors but mostly I think of getting to know one another and learning from each other's life journey. I enjoy stimulating conversation over coffee or a casual walk through a park, nature area, or beach.
