I lived most of my life in Illinois (the non-Chicago part of the state) and moved to Boise to work for a local company.
I have a good sense of humor and am good at making people laugh. I have a strong sense of ethics. I am always hungry to learn more about various topics such as politics, geography, economics, current events, just about anything academic. I enjoy some outdoor activities and have found a few enjoyable things to do around the Boise area. I have a very friendly dog. I am looking to meet new people (and my dog is looking to meet some nice down-to-earth dogs too!).
Here are the Top 25 Random Themistocles (and/or me) Factoids, in no particular order (drumroll please):
1. Themistocles was a leader of ancient Athens who advised spending money derived from a new silver mine on building a mighty navy. That navy ultimately saved the city and perhaps all of Greece (and one could argue, Western civilization as we know it).
2. I have a fear of wearing pink shirts. Long story (well maybe more embarrasing than long).

3. I like to spout factoids at random times. They could be about history, politics, something I just read in the newspaper, pi to the 25th decimal, etc. Others usually do not seem to appreciate these for some reason!
4. I am an ardent follower of the teachings of Ayn Rand and Objectivism (no this is not a religion). Ask for more info.
5. I almost never eat fast food, except for Arby's. WHY isn't there a Chick-Fil-A in Boise???? They make the best sandwiches.
6. MacGyver is my idol. That guy just rocked.

I always carry a stick of bubble gum and a paper clip in my pocket now, just in case I run across a nuclear bomb that needs to be defused. Those shows had some indispensable information like that!
7. My former roommate got me addicted to Naruto. I WILL be the next Hokage!
8. Themistocles was portrayed all wrong in that movie, 300 (as well as about everything else related to the Battle of Thermopylae).
9. I have never been pulled over driving in my car. However as a passenger with a single other person I've been pulled over about five times.
10. My favorite food is raspberries.

11. My favorite color is... oh wait this is beginning to sound preschoolerish.

12. I like to tinker around with ideas for inventions.
13. Someday I would like to start or acquire my own business.
14. I have a passion for history, and my favorite epoch is classical Rome.
15. I outran a police officer chasing me in hot pursuit one time. However I was not doing anything illegal. So why was he chasing me then? Feel free to take a guess.

16. I have insider information that shows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, once and for all, that Al Gore did NOT invent the Internet. This is all thanks to a modern-day Deep Throat.

17. I was fortunate enough to go on a European tour a few years back, which would explain some of those pictures. Bonus to anyone that can name the city of any or all of them!
18. I once rung that giant bronze bell near the front of the Idaho capitol building. It was a little louder than I was anticipating... Someone came up and said there would be a security person coming to talk with me shortly. I didn't exactly wait around for him though...

19. Sometimes I'm too honest for my own good. Too often.
20. I type emails, etc. without using spellcheck. Without even watching the screen, I can tell just by how I'm typing when I'm making a mistake. Usualy...
21. When I was in grade school, I would do math assignments and the next day would pass them to everyone else in class to copy. We were eventually caught (the teacher must have suspected something was up when everyone in class missed the same problem!

)
22. I've been getting the Wall Street Journal for about three years now, and haven't paid for a single copy for about two years. They just keep delivering them...
UPDATE: As of 2008 my newspapers are no more. I guess it's back to the Onion News Network (ONN) for keeping up-to-date on the latest happenings.
23. Denise Richards used to be my favorite actress (she really had that nuclear physicist Bond role down pat didn't she??

). However now it is Sarah Silverman. I saw her in a one-time appearance on a TV show several years before she became popular, and knew instantly she would be a success.
24. I have a natural connection with dogs, and can get them to be friendly to me quickly.
25. My specialization in my job is "Metrology". No I am NOT a weatherman for the 14th time already!!
26. You win a prize for reading all 25 items. Email me to claim it!

Oh and as for that painting, I stole it from the White House, so don't tell anyone you saw it here. It looks so much better on my mantle than it ever did in the West Wing.
