| | Before you pass this by because there's no photo, let me assure you that I'm not scary looking or obese, but I work in a very public place so I don't want my photo posted online. Just write and ask me; I'll be happy to send a few pictures with my reply!
I love the outdoors and am hoping to meet a man who enjoys at least some of the same outdoor activities I do. I like to camp, hike, and kayak. I've even done some backpacking and enjoyed that as well. I can ski a bit, both downhill and cross country (I grew up where they have real snow in the winter!). I love the beach and being out on the water (ocean, bay, lake, river) as well as the woods and the mountains.
I like traveling too. Places with natural beauty are usually my destination preference over cities, but urban areas have their good points too (food, culture, history). I'd like to see a lot more of this country, and would also love a vacation on and island in the Caribbean one of these days - I've never been there yet. New Zealand also intrigues me; I fell in love with the scenery shown the Lord of the Rings movies. I'd also like to take the time to play tourist here in Virginia since there are so many historic sites here that I have yet to see.
I enjoy reading, theater, music, movies - all the usual fare. I'm not into sports much, but I do enjoy being at a ballgame, it just won't hold my attention if it's tv. I love relaxing in front of a crackling wood fire on a cold winter's night, or lying in bed listening to the sound of rain on the roof.
Food preferences? I like things a little spicy, but I like to taste the food, not just the burn, so no atomic chili, please. Chinese and Mexican are probably my favorites.
Now this profile is giving me problems with the way it forces you to pigeonhole yourself in the basic questions - the non-religious thing is the best I could come up with for the answer to religion, for instance, but I do believe in God. I just don't have any particular church affiliation at this time.
Another hard question is the "what are you looking for" question. Eventually I'd like to be in a long term relationship, but I know that doesn't happen overnight. It takes a long time to really get to know somebody, and I want to take the time to do that. Starting off as friends is a wonderful way to begin. But if I put down "friends" or "dating" as my goal, then somebody might think I'm not open to a long term relationship.
The type of man I'd like to meet would be happy more often than not, honest, and a one-woman kind of guy. Somebody who likes to enjoy the simple things, somebody who values family and friends, somebody who likes holding hands, snuggling, etc. Just a nice normal man. A great smile helps too. I'm not interested in someone who's trying to impress folks with money or material things; life isn't a contest to see who has the biggest and best toys. After that it's just personality and chemistry that will determine if we hit it off or not.

The best first dates I've ever had have always involved doing something fun rather than just sitting and watching a movie. A walk along the boardwalk, a bike ride, kayaking? After that we can relax and chat over a meal or get something refreshing to drink, or maybe even have a picnic. |
