Do you want children?

About Me
Let's see... I finally decided to focus more on my social life than my career. Frankly, it's about time. :) I'm kinda shy meeting new people (I plan to work on that) and the bar scene wasn't for me. So, I thought I'd give this a try.
I'd say I'm pretty goal oriented. I've accomplished most of my professional goals, and I have other, personal ones as well. For instance, I'm working on hiking all the mountains in the Adirondacks that are over 4000 feet high (Adirondack 46ers). I also want to visit all 50 states (I did a bunch last year on a road trip to the Grand Canyon).
I love the outdoors. If the sun's out, I'm out--all year round. I like to ride my bike and explore the back country roads. I love my friend's catamaran--I wish he'd sail more. I especially like to hike and go backpacking. If I can't make it to the woods, I'll at least go for a 3 mile walk around town. I do hope you like to hike. And I used to love amusement parks--haven't been to one in ages--none of my friends like 'em. :(
Winter? XC skiing for me. I have snowshoes, but I prefer to ski. I used to downhill ski, but I wasn't getting enough exercise doing it, and once I moved out here, I was going alone (real boring on the chairlift). I don't miss it though, although I always wanted to try snowboarding...
Indoor stuff? On rainy days (or that day I just don't want to do anything) you'll find me reading, nerding out on a computer project, or watching a movie. At night I like to go out and listen to live music. I'll listen to just about anything if it's a live band--even country :) . I like museums. I'd like to go to the theater (I prefer plays, not musicals), but my friends won't go and it's one of the things I won't do alone.
I love kids, but I believe in being responsible regarding having children until I am married. I hope the one I become involved with shares the same view. In other words, I don't mind if you have children, but I do hope you were married when you got them.
So, what about my match? I guess, above all, I'm drawn to friendly, good natured women. Age isn't too important, but maturity is. After all, once you're done "growing up", age hardly defines you, right? So, if you think getting drunk is still "cool", please skip me. And, although I put "Undecided" for children, I think once I meet that special someone, I probably would want them.
And, if you haven't caught on, you really can't be too much of a couch potato. Hmm, I wonder where the phrase "couch potato" came from anyways? I can understand the "couch" part, but "potato"?? Anyways, please don't get me wrong--I'm not expecting a backpacking type (it would be cool though), but I think it would be nice if you were out there with me on a bike ride or hike for instance.
Whew! A lot of info. Hope to here from ya!
First Date
A first date for this online stuff should be different. I wouldn't really call it a date--more like a meeting (in a public place like a coffee shop or bar). After that, we would go on a "real" first date...
A first date is touchy. I think it depends on how well you know the person. If we don't know each other at all, it should allow for plenty of conversation which in the initial dates is important. I think a casual dinner date during the week works well.
But, if we both know each other fairly well, I may opt for something like a day hike, a trip to a museum or some similar activity that is enjoyable by both. It's a bit more "fun", has some distractions, but also allows for plenty of conversation. Afterwards, we could have dinner if things are going well.
