About Me
Who am I and whom do I seek? I'm personified by provocative paradoxes, dazzled by distinctive disparities, and sucked in by seemingly screwy singularities. In other words, I don't fit any typical type, have strong artistic and analytical sides, am eclectic, and am strongly attracted to others who are similarly diverse.

I seek heart and smart (don't you?). Warmth, compassion and passion are other of my qualities that I seek in another. I try to live by the golden rule (ideally platinum) and want the same. I can't image a life without passion, for my work, my ideals, my music and passion for people.

Laughter is essential. We both have quick and active wit. I'm very playful, sometimes silly, and live life with a childlike sense of wonder and delight.

Music is one of my great passions and joys (among many). Its a great counterpoint to my career (which is dominated by analytic, scientific thought). I play a little guitar, harmonica, sing and write the occasional song (usually acoustic bluesy stuff). If you play music or sing that's wonderful. Its joyful to make music together. My latest songs; "Channel Ghandi" (about being a lover, not a hater), "I'm Justified" (life from another's point of view), and "Journey" (a jazzy reflection on my path). I'm no pro, but pretty soulful for a white guy (or so I'm told).

I love live music (especially blues), the beautiful California outdoors, and savoring restaurants and dive bars. I even like to dance (after a couple of drinks). I've been a 49er season ticket holder for about 12 years. I generally employ moderation. But remember, even moderation can be carried to excess!

Time relaxing at home is also important to me. A good book, a warm fire, a home cooked meal. Or listening to or playing music. I also like TV (drama, adventure, crime, sitcoms, sports) and movies (HDTV, O.K., O.K., I'm a guy, I can't help it).

So what else am I doing with my life? Working (joyfully), exploring, learning, changing, growing. I just can't stop. Oh, and the occasional nap. :)

Wonderfully, continually more friends, love and joy in my life. Inspiring one another, supporting one another, sharing ecstatic great times with one another, helping each other grow and change. My divorce almost three years ago (from a five year marriage) was a great stimulus for growth. I was assailed with anger, hate and negativity of unimaginable intensity (at least for me, 'cause I'm not that kind of guy). Yet I myself did not succumb to the dark side :-) and maintained my peace and integrity throughout the fire (with the help of my music and friends). And I emerged stronger, more centered, and happier than ever before (Yeah, and even more loving). And am sharing what I learned with others (we lift up one other). Damn great stuff.

Growing in my music. Maybe that stuff I just mentioned above has something to do with it (nothing inspires creativity more than "interesting" times). Writing more, playing more, and sitting in on friends' gigs more than ever before. Man, I'm having fun!

My career path has been twisty, now on my third career. First, BA in Psych, so naturally, I worked in software for 6 years. Then MBA but I felt my peers were to focused on $$, so onto an MD and then an ER doc for 7 years. Now four years into a new career that combines it all. Destiny? Its a great mix of tasks; scientific, medical, intellectual, analytical, social, political, planning and execution. I lead with my heart and my head, and am always learning (and always teaching) and that makes me a happy boy. What should I do for a fourth career? Aging rock star? :-)

OK, now my personal relationship philosophy. Great relationships grow from strength. They are built upon sharing each others' bounty not filling each others' voids. With that kind of connection, two people enhance and extend each other. Also (this is quite important), we have each other's backs. Oh yea, and we've got to have lots and lots of playful fun. I have no expectations, but no limits.

First Date
We talk. We laugh. We share our passions. We connect in oh so many ways. Where are we? Who cares? We're barely aware of our surroundings.
