There is far too much of “I” here and not enough of “us” or “we” but let me describe who I am as clearly as I can. Some would say I fall slightly outside the norm. If you do as well, enjoy music and conversation and the simple pleasures nature freely offers, read on carefully. Maybe you will care to dance?

I am not main stream but belong more in the back eddies,
-don’t garden but rather enjoy being surrounded in the garden that is nature.
-have no pets but the birds that are attracted to my feeders.
-prefer the silence of walking, cycling, paddling, or sailing close to nature.
-am attracted to the shoreline, forest, and the dessert.
-soak up the warmth of the sun and I don’t like to walk in the rain

I have a modest pension, live within my means, and I feel richly blessed.
-dress in second hand clothes and I drive my vehicles until they are junk.
-live comfortably in a rented cabin surrounded by dust and clutter.
-sing and play guitar almost every day when I feel like music and the magic of harmony.
-decorate my walls with fabric art, paintings, carved bits of wood, and sculptures of wire and bone that I have created myself.

I want to have a smile on my face ‘til my cheeks hurt.
-want to laugh ‘til the tears run down my face.
-walk hand in hand, hug often, hold hips to hips, lips to lips, and love unconditionally
-am warm, soft, and sensitive and I love everyone who loves me.
-quickly forget the names of disagreeable people.
I am loved. I have many friends, 4 children, 5 grandchildren, and a great grand child.

I don’t hunt or fish or take pleasure in killing animals for sport, but I am not a vegetarian.
-eat when I’m hungry and sleep when I’m tired, and I have stopped wearing a watch.
-acknowledge the past, live for today, and rarely think about the future.
The kitchen is my entertainment centre, where all the senses are stimulated.

I have a degree in geography and sociology but I’m not an intellectual.
-have been a teacher, made mistakes, and I have learned many valuable lessons.
-have had 10 careers and was mediocre at them all.
I am an astute observer and have many insights.
The music is playing. The floor may be ours.

I am not an aggressive adventure game in a flashy box. I am a slightly worn but previously enjoyed collection of short stories.
