Prologue: While I always appreciate getting the responses I've been receiving, I should say that for dating purposes, I'd like to try to keep the distance within, oh, 30 miles or so. I've had two long-distance relationships ( >40 miles ) and they're just not for me.

I would love to find "the one" for a serious long-term relationship. I would be open to just hanging out, dating, friends, or activity partners, but the goal is to go long term. Like my headline says, it's all about the companionship. I'm looking for a fun and funny woman to do things with and, especially, to learn things from, and be with.
There are too many things that spark my interest, but here are few that we could do....Sox games, kayaking, biking, aimless drives with a camera in tow, woodsy walks, anything outside, indie movies, shows, drinks, long talks...you name it. I don't travel enough, and that is something I would like to ramp up a bit.
Cigarette smoking is an absolute deal killer for me. So if you're a non-smoker, read on!
About me: Painfully honest, direct, considerate, funny, sarcastic (in a good-natured way), practical, pragmatic, sometimes witty. I'm a Socratic thinker who questions everything (!) I contain not an ounce of religion, but that doesn't mean I'm not strongly principled. I'd like to believe that I'm guided by common sense, and I think before I act. I strive to see the other side of the story, and I (usually) think before I speak. I always like to learn things, so I'm very open-minded most of the time. I have great respect for anyone that can make me change what I think I believe. I find those instances to be truly enlightening and mind-blowing. I like art that makes me think about it...music, film, paintings, photographs...whatever. I'm tired of the big and mindless mainstream, which is one of the reasons I started making movies at a late age. I'm fascinated by the smallest of things, and I love that I can see the world through a child's eyes at times. I am most definitely a wise-a$$ (again, good-natured) and I have no problem admitting that. I like it when you can punch back and keep me on my toes, too!

About you: I tend to prefer the "jeans and sneakers" types over the "skirts and high-heels" types, although that's not by any means a hard and fast rule. You are smart, funny, able to carry on a conversation and able to see the ridiculousness in just about everything. You know the difference between right and wrong, and you do your best to take care of yourself both mentally and physically. Good spelling is a big plus, too!
