About Me
I've been in DC for almost a year. It's really growing on me. I found my favorite dive bar early on—a great place to write a dissertation—and made friends there and haven’t ventured far from it. I like the U Street and H Street neighborhoods; they remind me a bit of New York with their rough edges. I haven’t explored 8th Street or around the Capitol or anywhere outside the District, yet. I’m still looking for a honky tonk and a sports bar, preferably one that occasionally plays The Devil Went Down to Georgia or Pour Some Sugar on Me. Yeah, one of those kind of places. It’s cheesy, I know, but I am originally from Mississippi, and they remind me of home.
I love art but don’t go to the museums enough. It would be good to make my way through the Smithsonians. I like learning about most any and everything so if you have any suggestions for how to find out about cool lectures in the city, please let me know.
I love sports so you probably should, too, at least to watch. If you have fun kicking a soccer ball around, even better. I like to play rough and tumble sports, like rugby and Australian Rules Football. It’s liberating to know that you can take a hit and bounce back. There's something very primal and pure about these sports.
I am very close to my family who are the funniest folks in southern Mississippi. I am not kidding. My brother and I learned to drink quickly and syncopatedly because my mom liked to make us laugh when we drank our milk. Milk from the nose, when it happens to you, is not funny :)
I love kids and animals, and they usually like me back. I have a cat that fetches like a dog so you shouldn’t be allergic. If you have a dog that I could play with, that would be awesome.
I’m looking for someone who is kind, considerate, and a good communicator. The guys that I am usually attracted to are good with words and meet people easily. I think I have these qualities, too. Chemistry is important but hard to predict so I like to meet early on. If this sounds like you, send me an email and let me know what you like to do in DC.
First Date
I like a non-Starbucks coffee house date or wandering around a flea market laughing at the junk--something low-key where we can talk but that have easy escapes if necessary. Now that the weather is getting nice, throwing a frisbee, baseball, or rugby ball on the mall would be spectacular.
