I've found that women mean something different than men when they claim to have an "average" body type. I'm not from Mars, but I recognize that there are some significant differences in gender interpretations. If that last sentence confuses you, our conversations might not be all that interesting. On the other hand, I'm a darn good listener.
I'm not compatible with a woman looking for a meal ticket, nor a cat lover. I spent so much time on the bandstand, I never learned to dance, but wouldn't mind learning a few steps. Although I've no religious affiliations, I hold fast to my own moral and ethical standards. I enjoy cooking, especially on an open fire. I don't ask people to do things I wouldn't do myself, and I've always been partial to reasonably good manners. I'm not much for PDA, but I also get very upset with men who think women and children should double as punching bags.

I don't know about a first date, but a first meeting should be something easy to exit if it's obvious that there is a compatibility issue. Coffee at a public sit-down place is always good. By the same token, if it's going well, nothing says it can't evolve into dinner.
