I'm a Canadian living in San Francisco on a student visa. The degree is in VFX for film and I'm working on getting a greencard, though not willing to marry someone to get one. The fog here is kind of a drag; I'd be happy to move to a warmer climate. Warmer & dry! Maybe that’s why I’m in love with the desert. Going on a road trip through the desert is my idea of heaven - hot dry wind in your face because who needs the A/C?, a different motel room every night, seeing awesome geography, day-long hikes, and meeting interesting people and reptiles.

I'm quite capable of tent camping but after a while I’ll get crabby if I can’t get a decent bath or shower. I try to make it to the annual Burningman event in Nevada over Labor Day weekend - it's amazing! That's some serious tent camping, especially when the winds whip up and there's a whiteout. Nature always amazes me but you won’t find me jumping out of bed in the morning with a song in my heart. If I watch the sun rise it’s usually because I haven’t been to sleep yet. (My Mom had to chase me around the house to get me to go to bed when I was a kid.)

I love anything a little dark or weird and have a good sense of humor…or at least appreciate one! I’d like to meet someone who also makes art (writing, music) so we can inspire and challenge each other. If you're an artsy guy who likes to either hang out at home and cook a meal together, or party it up at dive bar - a classy night out is certainly not out of the question - I'd love to hear from you. As far as entertainment, I'm not into dancing, my musical tastes are pretty eclectic - yes I *even* like rap/hip-hop. I don't particularly care for romantic comedies - they're so cliche - my preference is independent film although there's some commercial stuff that's pretty entertaining. The same goes for TV (if I watch it!), Educational TV is great but I can also be easily amused by trash.

Having always been a bit of a black sheep and rebel (albeit a quiet one), I still like to take risks and don't see getting older as a handicap. I've been going to school with a lot of 18-25 year olds for the past few years and have never felt uncomfortable. Hopefully anyone I was with would feel the same. I've been at 'younger' events with people who say “I feel so OLD here!” They seem to feel this difference so acutely they don't enjoy themselves. I'm very easy going and tend to give people a lot of latitude because I think differences keep life interesting, but don't think you can push me around because I can be stubborn when I want to be!

I'm not necessarily looking for anything solid right away, but open to the possibility.

Just so we're on the same page, it's likely I won't feel a romantic connection if you: don't like pets (animals in general), prefer crisp ironed shirts over T-shirts, smoke a lot of pot (or chain smoke cigarettes), have become resigned to having a big belly, are church-going/religious, prefer 'golden oldies' anything (that includes The Beatles), or don't think it's necessary to bathe or shower every day!
