I like to do. I like to taste the world. They say I have a great sense of humor, and They usually know best, don’t they? I love to laugh and to make people laugh. My staff tells me I should have a career in comedy, but I don’t know if their serious or just want me out of their hair once and for all! Life so far has been such an interesting trip, and I have stories to tell. I like to explore new places, which has led me to lives in Alaska, upstate New York, Illinois, and Wisconsin. I’m a microbiologist and I have a love for nature-I’m one of those kids who could spend hours with his nose in the grass, watching the tiny animacules of the underworld march past. So, I like the quiet of camping and fishing. But, I love to dance! Ballroom is my favorite, but I’ve been known to frequent the occasional barroom hardwood, too. I think part of it is getting a chance to dress up, which is becoming rare in this increasingly casual world. Looking into a woman’s eyes and talking while dancing is the ultimate intimacy. If I can’t find a partner, I like photography, golf, biking, writing, and spontaneous acts of frivolity. I love to cook for two and set a nice table. Unfortunately, I'm terrible at modifying recipes, so if it says, "serves 12, " lots of leftovers are coming! But I try. I like to surprise the one I’m with. Like rent a helicopter and fly into the mountains for a surprise dinner. Or make secret plans for a weekend at a bed and breakfast. Love to take spur-of-the-moment day trips to unusual places (ask me about Blue Highways one day), or make unscheduled stops at antique shops along the way. Or fly to another city for dinner. I like to make stories. Or just cuddle up under a blanket on the sofa and read once in awhile. OK, I am the last of the true romantics. Kissing is a very good thing. I like women who like to try new stuff, and can be a little outrageous, and who can let me be a guy, with the guys, when I want to be.

My father taught me to respect others but have fun with life. He is the greatest man I have known. Family and tradition are important. I love children in all forms, having been one myself. Love to travel, but most of it has been in the US of A. This is one amazing country and I haven't seen it all yet. Maybe I'm saving the best trips for last.

My life taught me that being yourself and striving for honesty is important. Some lessons are hard-learned, but out of adversity comes growth. And I think the most important key to a successful relationship is being able to gulp down the pain and talk through things before they get out of hand. It takes guts, and commitment to the task, but it’s worth it. And a great relationship is being close enough to create a shared life while not smothering each other's uniqueness in the process. I love people and assume the best; we’re all trying as hard as we can! So, that’s me. Tell me of yourself. Tell me a story.

First dates depend on the woman and the moment. I love to surprise. Could just be coffee. Could be a bike ride along a river followed by a 'formal' picnic on a checkered blanket, complete with picnic basket, small vase with a rose at the center, and a little wine. A dressy dinner. Making memories and stories to tell. OK - I once rented a helicopter and flew my date and I to dinner in the Chugach mountains surrounding Anchorage. 'Course, that was one or two recessions ago, but you get the idea. Imagination is the key.
