Friends, family (including six grandchildren), music and continuous learning are the source of my happiness and fulfillment. Recreational sports and a nutrition-oriented diet are my source of health and energy. Take your pick and join me for cross-country skiing, road or mountain biking, rollerblading, hiking or canoeing (although it's time to trade in my 38 Kilo aluminum canoe for a 20 Kilo Kevlar canoe!). I'm a member of a local cycling club and enjoy the exercise (30 - 90 km) as well as socializing during and after our tours; being passed on the uphill stretches is my reminder to keep up my training and keep my BMI (Body Mass Index) below 25.0. :-)

Holiday and business travels have taken me to England, Switzerland, France, Austria, the former Czechoslovakia, Sweden, Bolivia, Peru, as well as to the east and west coasts of Canada and the USA. I've often enjoyed the hospitality of "locals" and prefer that more personal touch when I travel; I like to return those favours or "pass them forward" whenever the opportunities occur.

I like most kinds of music and play 5 string banjo (try playing a sad song on a banjo!) and steel string guitar. I've revived an amateur music group that meets at our members' homes for an early evening meal and lively, provocative discussions followed by playing and singing our favourite songs (music by Leonard Cohen, Simon & Garfunkel, Pete Seeger, John Denver, Kris Kristofferson, The Kingston Trio, Eric Clapton, The Beatles etc.). I've been acting as our group's "sound engineer", mixing, recording and digitizing our music. I'm also back into ballroom dancing; it's great for loosening up the leg muscles after a cycling tour!
