For a first date, I think it should be a casual meeting maybe for coffee or a walk to take some time to get to know each other. Explore interests and test the waters of communication. Most people will know after that point if there is enough interest there to go on a second date.

At that point a nice dinner and more in depth conversation. You can tell a lot about someone from there body language and how they react or respond to other people around them. There is plenty of time for romance, I feel two people getting to know each other is a process. How many times have we all jumped into something wondering later what was I thinking? Happiness comes from within. I don't need someone else to make me happy, happiness is something I want to share.
