Describe myself eh? A difficult thing to do, I reckon, for anybody.
Physically I`m about six foot. A tad rounder than I oughta be. Fair hair which I admit is thinning a bit, but it`s still the proper colour! Glasses (it`s me age, don`cha know!) Average looks overall , I reckon.
I`ve been told I`m too laid back for my own good, whatever that may mean! I feel I probably need someone to "bring me out" as the saying goes, although I think I`m genuine, pretty congenial, and gregarious with the right people, if a little shy, sometimes. I`m certainly generous (he said, modestly). I`m sure I`m not selfish. Always like to see the best side of everyone. Ridiculous sense of humour. Love stuff from 60`s radio shows (Goons, Tony Hancock, Round The Horne etc) and pop from the same era (my formative years) I have a soft spot for jazz and big band, but not too wild. Stuff that swings. I like to think I have an enquiring mind, especially where scientific and technical things are concerned, as I`ve nearly always been in some sort of engineering profession. Into photography as well. Did make a living from it, at one stage, until I couldn`t face another wedding to save my life! Recently become interested in comparatively recent history, especially local stuff, (early photographs etc.) which probably explains why I`m a bit of a nostalgic and romantic at heart. Candle-lit dinners, treating a lady properly and such-like things appeal to me. Also been told I don`t seem my age. Could it be I still have (optimistically) my boy-ish complexion?(!) Might also mean I`m childish, I suppose! I have to admit to liking my big boys` techie toys - home cinema, hi-fi - you know, all that sort of thing! I always have plenty of time for genuine people.
Looking for:
Someone who can drag me out of a little bit of apathy and cynicism, although I`m not a "grumpy old man" - far from it! My ideal lady would be a mix of Felicity Kendall, Nannette Newman and Hannah Gordon, with perhaps just a dash of Halle Berry thrown in! More seriously, I think I need someone fairly strong (in a demure sort of a way!) `koz I have to admit to getting into couch potato mode probably a little too often these days and I suspect that needs a cure! Looking also for someone who is genuine (a common requirement, I would imagine) and has the same sort of silly sense of humour. Preferably no big-heads or blabbermouths, please. Intelligence has got to figure quite highly. Reasonably well spoken. (Mind you, MY Kentish drawl is nothing to write home about)
Looks aren`t everything in my book, but I really can`t get excited about all-in wrestling sorts and/or Dawn French /Jo Brand look-alikes or tattoos/piercings. I like my ladies to be just that - feminine. Oh… and a non-smoker. As a life-long abstainer (smoking I mean) I loath it!
