I consider myself to be a devout, conservative Catholic man who's endured a few "bumps in the road of life", up to this point. I'm both widowed and divorced (annulled). Both titles carry with them their own challenges, but as I always say, "God has a plan!". My first wife, and mother of my two adult daughters, lost her battle with breast cancer in 1992. Two years later I married my college sweetheart. Due to difficult circumstances that were present before our sacramental union transpired, our marriage collapsed in just a few short years. Needless to say, I've grown in my faith via God's plan and not my own. It occurs to me that this is the only way that we really grow!

Well, more recently I've developed some wonderful friendships, but God still has not blessed me with that elusive "soul mate". In the last several years, I've suffered through some difficult long-term relationship losses which has caused me to grow and to come to a deeper appreciation of life and its meaning. I now pray that I'm ready for that one very special lady that God has prepared for me. I believe that he's prepared someone special for everyone who seeks a "soul mate". In my search, it's important to point out that I believe in "courting" versus simply "dating". The term courting signifies an intent, rather than just "shopping around". With courting, we have the opportunity to learn whether a sacred, covenental Catholic marriage is God's intent for us. With that being said, it's also important to point out that I'm not interested in having multiple girlfriends. I'm searching for that one very special person, however, I do believe in having as many friends as possible, be they male or female. I don't feel that we can ever have too many friends and our task is to take as many of those friends with us to heaven as possible!

I'm seeking a conservative, devout Catholic lady who holds her personal relationship with Jesus as her most valuable possession. I would like her to join me for daily Mass or Communion Service if her schedule allows. I look forward to praying together daily, as well. Prayer is very powerful and I believe that most any obstacle can be overcome with serious prayer. Either God calms the storm or He calms His child! The bottom line is that "prayer changes things".

On a lighter note, I hope that she will enjoy traveling, as I love to travel and would welcome every opportunity to do so with my life-long companion. I also hope that she's willing to exercise and walk with me regularly, as I enjoy some type of physical exercise when my schedule allows. Since I'm a romantic at heart, I hope that she enjoys romantic candle-lit dining as time permits. Admittedly, I'm not very knowledable in the area of dancing, but I'm willing to learn once I have a patient partner who'll put up with me (LOL)! I also trust that my future spouse will be an open communicator who's willing to discuss an issue or problem, rather than allow in a type of poison that destroys the intimacy between husband and wife. I believe in never letting the sun set on a disagreement. If more couples believed in this philosophy, we'd have fewer divorces.

Furthermore, I hope that my future wife is gainfully employed and that she has goals for herself. Truthfully, the goal that we should all embrace is to discover God's will for our lives and then live that out to the best of our ability.

Moving on, I do also believe strongly in "chemistry", so if you don't have a recent picture of yourself posted with your profile, and you choose to respond, please be sure to attach a picture of yourself. Fortunately, or unfortunately, men are visually stimulated creatures. Normally, we must feel some attraction to the appearance of a woman before we venture into finding out about her most important part-her heart. This may preclude us from discovering a wonderful lady, but this is how we're wired by God. Thank you for hopefully understanding the importance of this issue and not judging me by it.

I would like to enjoy an evening out for dinner with a relaxing walk near a body of water afterwards. I think that time spent getting to know someone well helps build a good foundation for a long-term relationship. I'm not interested in married women or "other" relationships so please move on if that's what you're seeking. One of my favorite places to spend the evening is in Grand Haven walking the pier at sunset so this would make a nice setting for a first meeting.
