My name is Dan.

I'm a former computer programmer who teaches computer technology all day and then goes home to study some more, because I get a thrill from learning new things. Lately my attention has turned from computer technology to learning Mandarin Chinese.

I'm planning a trip to China this winter and am thinking about making a longer stay in China some time in the near future.

I'm ... young-thinking ... honest ... intelligent ... funny (at least some people think so).

I want to enjoy the company of a woman who enjoys learning, is intelligent, ambitious, and loves to laugh and have fun. I love to see and hear my partner laugh and smile, especially if I'm at least part of the reason. I laugh easily.

I find that what a woman thinks of herself is a lot more important than any particular physical quality. Yes, there has to be that indefinable thing we call chemistry, but chances are, if you think you're sexy, I'll think you're sexy, too.

I'm a good guy with a lot of interests in politics, science, technology, and all things cultural.

My politics are liberal. I'm a MSNBC watcher, NPR listener, and I think Colbert is the funniest man on the planet. (So, if you watch Fox news, we won't get along.)

I like all kinds of music, but am particularly fond of 60's jazz (cool period) and classical.

I live on the North Side of Chicago.
