[start sad violin music] I was born on the wrong side of the railroad tracks... an orphan left alone.... ha! Wait, wait... that's not right. I was born and raised in a happy family in Southern California, and about 4 years ago moved to South Texas.
I am looking for a woman who is happy with who and where she is in life. One who can laugh at my dry humor, enjoys the little adventures that life throws at us every day (e.g. following my broken sense of direction), doesn't mind (appropriate) public displays of affection. Someone who is kind, non-confrontational, but isn't afraid to speak her mind. I's ain't no genius meself - but intelligence is a must.
I would prefer a woman who is emotionally stable and available, financially responsible, and has outgrown the need for drama in her life.
I have lots of interests that I would LOVE to share with someone - but it would be great if you brought some of your own along to share with me.
I am unique. I can almost guarantee you've never met someone like me. From the collection of music on my iPod that surely no other guy in Texas can match (lol) to my rapier self-depreciating wit. And I'm still childish enough to believe that something amazing will happen to me yet.
I have many hobbies and interests, but my favorite is photography. I'll typically be out taking nature pictures (birds, seascape, zoo, etc) and if you contact me the first thing I'll probably do is include a link to my pictures online (fishing for compliments )
I also read a lot (most recent was The Wheel of Time book 9 from Robert Jordan - slowly working my way through those) fantasy/hero type, history, suspense, political thrillers. Jonah Goldbergs new book is on my nightstand now. I have LOTS of books - even after donating a ton to hospitals whenever I've moved. Oh yeah! I like to cook too... would prefer to cook WITH someone than FOR them.
I live with my 17 y/o son - and he is going to college! yayyyy!.
I like all kinds of music, but mostly for the lyrics. I was in a rock band in my youth (it's the law in California - all male teens must be in a band). So as long as the lyrics carry meaning for me it can be rock, country, musicals, light opera - just about anything. I've played bass, clarinet, sax, oboe, and banjo (weird...) I haven't played any of them for years but have been getting a jones to pick one up again.
I don't watch much TV - but as a warning I'll laugh at everything from Family Guy/Southpark to Spongebob/Fairly Odd Parents. Uhhhh not that I only watch animation... lol. History Channel, Foodnetwork, Comedy Central, News... Just not in large doses.
Thought for the day: If you are sitting there feeling alone and lonely...wondering why God hasn't answered your prayers for that special man that you long for...maybe it's because you didn't take a minute to send him a note or respond to his friendly email or IM. Reach out and be a friend to someone today...what have you got to lose? (You have my promise to never respond in an inappropriate, unkind or unwanted way.)
Note: I work from several computers - apparently one of them can't receive IM requests. PLEASE if I don't respond, send an email.
First Date
I think going to the zoo makes for a nice first date. It's public, private enough that we can talk - and there's lots of stuff around to talk about, in case my scintillating conversation hits a snag.
