I am a fun, easy-going guy looking for friends to share mutual interests, develop some new ones, or just spend some time kicking back and unwinding on the patio with a few drinks and really good conversation. Working on my doctoral dissertation takes up quite a bit of my time right now and is a very high and focused priority for me--a necessary requirement in preparation for my second career in the academic/research world. But, as the saying goes, all work and no play makes Rich a very dull guy (because his brain gets really fuzzy). And if there's anything that I really don't like, it's dull. So I need to take occasional breaks to shake out the fuzziness, and I'm interested in someone who is easy-going, flexible, and like-minded to share the chill moments in an otherwise busy schedule. I'm not in search of a relationship, but I'm open to whatever happens in the course of our getting to know each other.

I am enrolled member of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation (7/32 degree of Indian blood). I like to travel (although most of this recently has been limited to attending academic conferences), with Bar Harbor, Santa Fe, Seattle, Amsterdam, and Ireland my favorites that I've visted so far. Destinations on the bucket list include Australia, Scandinavia, Spain/Portugal, Italy (esp. Amalfi Coast and the Lake District), Cabo, Hong Kong, and hiking some (or all) of the Applachian Trail. As an avid soccer fan, one of my goals is to attend a World Cup in a host country for the full duration of the tournament. I want to play golf in Ireland and Scotland. I also admit to being a bit of a beer snob (i.e., no light beer or most maintsteam American stuff) and really enjoy the local brews from wherever I may be. But I also enjoy wine tasting, visiting wineries, and having a glass when in the mood. In my down time, you most likely will find me reading, listening to music, watching a movie, working out, playing golf or practicing at the driving range, enjoying an infrequent cigar (you have my word I won't smoke around you if you object), visting with friends and family, or taking a drive with no particular destination in mind--just to get out and enjoy the day.

Meet someplace casual where we can talk over a beer, a glass of wine, or a cup of coffee. If we click and find we both live for the blues, then maybe we go find a dive with a live band and some dancing. Or get together and play some golf.
