About Me
I enjoy my job (I'm the Risk Manager for a local government entity) but I love my time off. I spend my time with like-minded people who enjoy what life has to offer. I have a Parrot-Head personality (all things Jimmy Buffett) which should just about say everything about my lifestyle and interests. But more importantly, I am a Christian man who believes that God put gifts here for us to enjoy, and I enjoy all of 'em.

I had an epiphany a while back and because of it I made some changes in my life. Mostly those changes centered on how I behave. I always treat folks better than I am treated, and I am a loyal friend. I try to be a nice guy, I treat other people with respect, I'm even-tempered, I like to have fun but I'm not an idiot about it, and probably my biggest fault is that I like to give stuff away. I can't remember the last time I lied to anyone about anything, again, part of my epiphany and my treating folks better than they treat me. The truth may hurt once, but a lie will turn on you and bite your butt 'till you're forgiven. (My mother would have been proud, I hope.) Also, the Bible tells us to be "Equally Yoked" in our lives. I believe this applies not only to our belief and trust in God, but also to every other strata in our lives: social, economic, etc.

I am an Army veteran and have a deep love for my country and the greatest respect for those who serve (and have served) in her armed forces. There are those who do not understand military rituals. Some even ridicule them. I feel pity for those people.

And this is for all you "baggage handlers" out there: A wise person once (maybe twice) said, "There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason they didn't make it to your future".

I would like to meet a girl who: isn't taller than me, can have fun at a loud party or a quiet movie, has a flexible dress code (I clean up really well when the occasion warrants, but I prefer to be comfortable), will let me cook when I get inspired, isn't afraid of public displays of affection, has a sense of humor and can appreciate one in others, likes to tube the Guadalupe, and doesn't have cats or dogs. Now, before you go and get all PETA on me, let me just say up front that I don't dislike cats and dogs, lemurs, pot-bellied pigs, rabbits or weasels. I'm just usually allergic to them. I have a parrot, a yellow-nape amazon that has shared my space for 22 years, so some animals and I get along pretty well.

Also, I need to take this time and this space to explain one of life's biggest mysteries:
Very few folks out there understand the true meaning of "relationship math".
1 + 1 = 1
Sounds almost too simple, doesn't it (and for some folks, it just doesn't "add up").

On nice days when there's a good breeze and the mood hits me, I fly kites... big ones. It's quiet (usually) and I can relax, sit back, enjoy a cold drink and a cool breeze and wonder what all the less fortunate folks are doing... and I wear a hat a lot so the top of my head won't get sunburned. Had a Goldwing, sold it but still have the MC endorsement on my license, so who knows, I may go totally insane again and get another bike. On weekends, I usually leave with a thermos of coffee, or a cooler full of "drinks", depending on my plans or lack of plans. Sometimes I don't get any further away than my deck, sometimes I burn a tank of gas. Life sure is good, huh?

You may have noticed by now that almost all my pictures show me enjoying some "island-inspired" event with my flowered-shirt-wearing, fun-loving and sub-cultured friends. That's me; loving life, enjoying time with friends, and still wondering what the less fortunate folks are doing with their lives. Sure, I go to weddings, funerals, church, "dress up" parties, concerts, etc. where I actually wear long pants, polished shoes (with socks), coats and ties... but folks don't usually take pictures at those events. You'll just have to take my word that I own "big boy" clothes and know how/when to wear them.

I moved to Dallas (had to get back to my beloved TEXAS) from Lafayette, Louisiana. I moved to Lafayette from Houston (where I grew up) and lived in Cajun country for 12 years. I really enjoyed their culture and music and learned how to cook some pretty neat stuff. I still make pralines and fudge pecan pies for Christmas gifts.

My life is pretty much ruled by "wild hair moments", so it would be nice to have someone there to share those times with. I'm one of those people whose glass is full... not with a drink, but with life. Once again, I sit back and wonder how those "glass half-full" folks are doing.

Although I do get to meet some pretty interesting people, it's really hard to find that one person that can make you glad to be home. I know you exist. I look forward to meeting you.

First Date
Life today isn't like it was when we were younger. It can be pretty scary out there, so... first date/meeting, we can go someplace quiet, where you feel comfortable. We can talk over a drink or coffee, see if we "click", see if there's any level where we see eye to eye on life's possibilities. If not, no harm, no foul and we go back and tell our friends that we met a great person today.
OR... we can meet up at the West End, or Lower Greenville, or Sundance Square, or a flea market. Limitless possibilities.
