I'd love to make some new friends with the passion and desire to craft more out of life than is already given; one of exceptional moments rather than acceptable moments.

I moved from Portland, OR to Venice, Florida last Christmas Eve, there's a little adjustment to the differing social cultures still wearing away. I've gone from forests to get lost in, iconic snow capped mountains, carpets of green as far as you choose to see and liberal attitudes...to sugary white sand beaches, surfing and falling asleep to the smell of warm, salt air drifting in through the windows at night-easier than I had expected!

I've lived all 'round this country--I'm Minnesotan by birth, Floridian by season, a Portlander and Boulderite by Life's design--and kick ass by nature. I'm working on life's unwritten story and like finding new paths to walk and places to explore. I needed a local running partner and so far have decided my best bet is to get a boxer(still lookin' if you know of one up for adoption or needing a foster home...a boxer, that is); though I'm concerned about having enough time to commit to giving a dog a nurturing home by myself.

Confident, driven (and I like black olives--a force to be reckoned with! No, really!), mindful, laid back, affectionate, nurturing, selfless, funny, assertive, goal oriented, intense, loyal, fearless, loving, giving, compassionate and passionate at my best. Lazy, self-sabotaging, arrogant, reserved, meek, listless, apathetic, emotionally unavailable at my occasional worst. Usually a little of both~Life's all about balance!

I am passionate about most everything I'm a part of; an adrenaline junkie when life cooperates, I love sports where you get to use the word 'dude' a lot! I just got my first surfboard and have yet to learn how to surf (are you out there surfer girl?). When I can, I do my best to exercise my playful side on weekends. I compete only against myself, ripping self-doubt a new ass at every opportunity. I try to be a stronger, better man every day--whether I actually am or not. I'd probably sell my soul to run the beaches every night; streets just don't do it for me. I love kayaking, kiteboarding, golf, superbike races, hockey and restoring historic properties. I write stories on the rare occasion I have nothing to do, but when I'm done I burn them to ashes because I'm afraid my creative well could someday run dry. I give openly, selflessly and often--way more of myself than I probably should--to my friends and lovers, and I'm often left emotionally drained when I don't get close to the same in return. I'm not bitter or jaded, I just want to be around people as equally giving more often. I expect nothing out of those that come into my life other than what they're willing to give. I wont hold you to the expectations I have of myself; you are your own person, and I'll love you for that alone if we decide to let each other into our lives.

I'll hit the waves with anyone, anywhere, and anytime, given the opportunity. I'd clear my calendar to hit the beach, the mountains, or head into the backwoods with friends.

I'm not much of a barfly these days; been there and done that years ago from both sides of the bar and my liver still hates me for it. I'll hit the pub with friends on occasion and have a hell of a lot of fun there, but I try not to make it the focus of a night out--just a stop off. Really, I crave the new and I play more of a homebody role until life throws an opportunity to do something out of the ordinary my way. I play hand drums and I'm taking my sweet time learning guitar...

I love my life. But there's more than enough left over--and a definite need--to find other like minded spirits to revel in new sensations and experiences; Life really is its most amazing when its a shared experience and that's a missing piece right now. I'm damn good at being an adult when life requires. When I was younger, I spent a lot of time living what has become great stories to look back upon. College came a little later in life than expected, but the end is near and I'm on the edge of a great career with rewards both in the heart and in the bank. Sooooo close...

I'm taking a full course load online@PSU while back in Florida--I moved back early in hopes of getting an internship or a jump start on a career somewhere in an Urban Planning, Sustainability Planning, Historic Redevelopment/Preservation or Community Development related field. Working out that way? Not so much.

If it hasn't become apparent, I'm a helluva great guy with a wild side that balances a responsible side gained thru a few years or traveling, education and life experiences; my life is in flux and sometimes truly chaotic. In a fun way. Usually.
