I am a 61 year old semi-retired man who has abandoned the dry land to go and live on his 30 foot sailboat. This had been my retirement plan for quite a while. I chose a sailboat as I would then have the ability to go a long way (like cross an ocean without a vast fuel burn. Also, with this setup, no matter where I went, I would already be home.
My wife died over ten years ago and this left a sort of hole in my life, a hole that I thought I would never be be able to fill. But now, my life has taken a large turn for the better, and so it is time that I do something about this. During my activities I meet plenty of nice ladies, but they are all set in their own relationships. A couple of weeks ago someone told me about this web site. At this point I have no idea how it will turn out. But at least it will be something, and if it will not work out, I can always try something else.
I must confess that I am somewhat a romantic. I do feel that the women in my life, no matter what sort of relationship we might have, should be treated properly, with both dignity and respect. The photo is current (yesterday) and even though the lighting was a little bad, pretty shows me the way I am.
I have a huge list of things that I like, and really a short one of things that I can not abide. I like the sound of good music. That is to say music that is performed by one who knows how. Books have been a lifelong passion of mine as well as (oddly enough) continuing my education. There have been few times in my life that I have not been studying something. I know how to treat a woman right, and I do have this habit of spoiling her. Well with all of the rough treatment you get from some men, a little spoiling should be your due.
There are just too many thing I like to do to really list here, but many are things that are done much better with a partner, rather that alone. I have never been into the bar scene or short term/flings/one night stands. They seem such a waste of time and effort. Well now, if you have read this far, you might as well drop me a line. After all nothing ventureded, nothing gained. With a little luck, we both may find what we seek. I should add that while I am quite mobile, I would really prefer to meet someone who lives on the island. New relationships have enough difficulties without throwing a long ferry ride into the mix
For a first date, well I have no pre-conceived plans. That would depend on what you are comfortable with. A good dinner at an upscale sort of place is always nice. That is to say a place where the food is good and the staff know how to treat you right.
