This is always the hard part, isn't it? I'm a fun-loving guy who is new to this area. Professionally, my job is in media relations, and I used to be a print journalist so I like to read and keep up on what's in the news. I'm about to finish my private pilot's license. I like to cook -- let me make you a romantic dinner. I'm a home-brewer (and in all modesty, make excellent beer ).
I'm an outgoing introvert, or some other oxymoronic personality description. Basically, I'm friendly and personable on the outside, but a little shy and hesitant on the inside.

I'm going to provide a couple of captions for my photos here. The first one was taken by one of my employees last month, expressly for use here. I think it's a pretty decent likeness.
The one in the ssuit shows me walking in a corridor of the Pentagon when I worked there 18 months ago. People tell me I look angry in that picture - I don't see it myself.
The one in the red shirt was taken when I worked on Hurrican Katrina relief for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It is arguably the least flattering photo ever taken of me, so I figure it's a litmus test -- I don't get to look much worse than I do in that shot, that's as bad as it gets. If you're still interested after seeing it, great! If not, please look at the other pictures.
Next, there's a photo of me at the controls of a Piper Cherokee. Unfortunately, when it comes to his photography skills, my flight instructor is a really great pilot.
Then there's a picture on the Harley -- that's from March 29, 2008, so it's the most recent. I just bought the bike and don't have it moved from where I bought it to the Quad Cities yet. Probably in a week or two when the weather warms up.

None of these are especially glamour shots -- they look like me. I'm a pudgy 45-year-old, but at least I have all my hair and most of it isn't gray.
Other interests? Although I don't work as a journalist anymore, I still think of myself as a writer and I'm trying to write a book. I've been focusing on physical fitness (but I'm not certain if I'd define it as an 'interest' as I don't find it all that interesting, and it is certainly no hobby!); I like sports cars and I drive an '05 Mustang; I'm still working on my pilot's license, if I have the money after buying the Harley.

A first date is about getting to know each other. Coffee or a drink, in a quiet place where you don't have to yell to make yourself heard, and you have a chance to chat and get acquainted.
