I'd really like to write something that was not conscious of being a personals profile. But first I must issue a disclaimer: *I* am conscious of writing a personals profile, and I find it very strange. I don't think this is how people really know each other--I mean from their descriptions of self. My impression of myself, surely, is the smallest part of your impression of me. So I guess the thing to do is try to *make* an impression, not try to give *my own* impression of myself--but I hate that sort of thing. It is phony. Oh well. (End of disclaimer.)

I've been on so few first dates, that I could actually describe every one of them. But I won't, I will just summarize: they were all boring. Probably the first time people meet they should always get drunk. Drunken people are more open and honest--or anyway *I'm* more open when I'm drunk. Aren't you?

People are too worried about first impressions. Not me--I'm not worried enough about them! That's why people don't get drunk on a first date. They don't want the other one to think they get drunk all the time. Don't worry about that with me: at any given time, I don't expect you to be representative of yourself; I won't assume that any time you do something, you're behaving characteristically. You shouldn't expect me to be representative of myself either. In fact I *never* am!
