Greetings. I joined POF because I don’t get much time to go out and meet people (not true anymore, self-employment has helped a lot with freeing up my schedule).

As for whom I am. I like to be happy at whatever it is I am doing. I can be easily amused like Fry from Futurama or enjoy complex humor from people such as Denis Leary. I feel that every once in a while we all have to get a little insane just to stay sane. Just sampling and enjoying life really. I think that being honest and true is far better than lies and deceit (and this is a most important rule to me). It is always easier to tell the truth that we won’t forget than have to remember the lie we told. I do not think that chivalry is dead and I do what I can to keep it alive and well. I am a respectful old romantic, which means I get to know you the first few dates, prefer planning and permission than one-night:one-purpose, and make things slow and savory than attempt a record number (though negotiation is practical too).

Now for what I like. I favor classical, ambient/chillout, and foreign music (examples: Erik Satie, Gustav Holst, Hearts Of Space{though it is a radio program}, Huun Huur-Tu, Ravi Shankar). I also listen to classic rock, metal, and various forms of electro/techno. I like wines and ethnic foods as well as cooking special meals (some call it gourmet). I have traveled a lot and will be keeping up my exploratory habits; after all, I consider the world my home. I have had some college but I didn’t like my major. I plan on keeping up the travel while finishing my studies. I enjoy reading both fiction and non-fiction. I have a love for science and chemistry; I was renowned as the pyrotechnician to my friends and family. I like to learn new things, though, at my own pace. I used to be in a gaming group, but since moving to FL I have yet to find another. I would like to get back into a group; invites or tips welcome.

For a first date I would like to start things simple. Going someplace casual where we can get to know more about each other. See how we get along, get to know one another and see each others personality and habits. The somewhere is less important to me than who I go with, but good food, fun, and a comfortable locale does help. Ideally we would be more interested in getting to know each other. I would avoid bars, clubs and the like. I prefer quieter, open meeting places.
