I am an active 57 year old man, stand 6'3", and weigh 205lbs. I am an avid reader and an aspiring writer (sort of published). I enjoy water-sports and `cottaging' in the summer, Jay's games, the gym, concerts, musicals, dancing and good movies. I like to skate in the winter.

My relationships with my family and friends are very important to me. When I can squeeze it in, I do a little volunteer work.

I am looking for a woman close to my age who has similar interests, to date, with a view toward a long-lasting relationship.

It's interesting, reading some of the profiles and seeing what women look for in a man - 'Strong but gentle, edgy with a soft center, a spiritual yogi with tattoos and a Harley, a captain of industry willing to cook, do dishes and take out the garbage' . . . kinda leaves me confused. Then there's this one, " He's just like me! He has his act together -- established, romantic, passionate, sexy, intelligent, healthy, fit, funny, outgoing,responsible, grounded, considerate, honest, and respectful. Someone who has grown from life's experiences and knows how to be with a woman in all ways." She forgot to scream "Humble!" So I'm thinking, wait a second - I know this guy. He's still happily married to his first wife and will never appear on this site.

Much is made of honesty, but I feel that honesty is much like humility - the more you talk about it the less you have.If some guy tries to sell me his 'integrity package', I try to remember if I shook his hand and I'm quick to check for missing fingers. Paramount for me is building trust through an exchange of ideas and open discourse about our feelings.

A few years ago, I went on a voyage of self-discovery. This journey into inner space may not have been as thrilling as, lets say a dive trip to the Caymans, but it was exciting none the less. Something like a trip to the stars, only in reverse. In self examination, I see that my character is largely a product of my experiences and I'm human at best.I do believe that by myself, I am nothing and only through my relationships with others do I gain substance. Those who can hang on to the good memories and get past the bad ones from their past relationships seem to remain positive and emotionally available. I like to think I am one of these and I'd expect the same from a partner. Inner beauty is just as important as the outer and lasts longer,too. Do I ask too much?

What is life without laughter? My friends tell me my crazy sense of humor is my best quality . . . at least the ones who appreciate dry humor. When a woman I met told me she was "High Maintenance". I asked her, "Does that meant that mean you spend a lot of time in the hospital?" Well, you can guess the rest. That one didn't bite on live bait - only shiny objects, and with a twitch of her tail, she was gone. A friend asked if I planned to use different bait this time on POF. I said, "Yes. As useful as it has proven in the past, I've decided to forgo the worm in favor of dynamite. I'm going to blast the pond, then scoop up the dazed fish with a net." Problem is, the good ones seem to sink to the bottom and hide among the weeds.In any event, given a chance, I'll have you shopping for `Depends' . . . if it happens to be you.
