Although I am a complex person, I live a quiet, simple life. I regularly commit random acts of kindness, pet every cat and dog I see, and glean silliness from most anywhere. My job regularly provides entertainment as well as income.

I like metal music loud, and classical REALLY LOUD. I think disco is great to listen to in the car, and I also enjoy trance, some classic rock, blues, jazz, and some rap. I also enjoy bands like the Tea Party, Live, and Pearl Jam, and have absolutely no idea which genre they belong to. My least favorites genres (OK, I just don't like them) are modern country, any reggae, and whiny-guy alternative (think Nickelback, Greenday, and especially Tragically Hip).

I am fiercely protective of those I care for, and for the weak and helpless. My anger can be huge, but can be thwarted by cute and fuzzy things.
My past is checkered, but is just that - the past. I don't use drugs or alcohol because I've already had my share! My experiences have made me somewhat cynical, but unusually resilient in times of trouble.

I stay active by chasing the damn dog, pushing strangers' cars out of snowbanks, and helping people move.

In calmer moments I bake goodies and bread, and do crafts while stuff is in the oven.

I'm handy with vehicles and around the house, and co-habit an apartment with a twelve-year-old kid, a dog, a snake, and two cats. I'm not entirely sure why they keep me around, other than to provide food.

In many ways I am old school - I bake and cook from scratch, cook over the fire when camping, don't own a calculator, don't use spell check, read voraciously, and enjoy watching Star Trek, M*A*S*H, and Law and Order reruns.

I am very much against racism and bigotry, and am impatient with stupidity in any form.

Working nights can make it difficult to meet people, but I am ready to make the extra effort for the right person.

Although I don't have a "No Smoking" restriction on my profile, my preference is for a non-smoker.
