I know I'm nowhere near perfect and never will be, but I'm in good company because neither will anyone else. With that said, I do study myself introspectively to make myself a better person. I know what I want, instinctively, and am looking for that. I want to feel true love. We all have felt it from time to time but when you and your significant other feel that at the same time it can only be described as mystical. It's like it has existed for all of eternity and you simply uncovered it. Why does this have to be so difficult? OK here goes. Here's me in a nutshell. Call you just to hear your voice and tell you that I love you. Flowers, gifts, cards for no reason. Open doors for you. Go get the car in the pouring rain and pick you up in front of the restaurant so that you don't get wet. See things during the day that remind me of you and can't wait to tell you about it later. I actually listen and make a great friend. I am mechanically inclined and love to take care of the things you hate to deal with because I love you. I like to see you happy. I like to see you smile. I am most pleased with myself when you are happy with me. I was married for almost 21 years (I take commitment seriously) I was raised by parents born in the 20's. I was taught manners, to have dignity, self respect, and to be honest and respectful of others and to stand up for the underdog, the weak. and the defenseless. If you are The One for me I would walk across burning coals, barefoot, in the middle of the night, to get you a pint of ice cream at the convenience store. Looking for friends first and let's see if Earth shakes.
My perfect match?....... You are you..... with all your perfections and imperfections and I love them both. You make this world colorful and beautiful just because you live in it. I love you like no other. I put a dagger to my heart, put your hand on the handle, and trust you not to run me through. I trust you with my life and would give mine to save yours. I know I described it as such in the paragraphs above.. and it does attract us to each other.. but the true meaning of love is that it is a verb, or action word. It is a sacrificial act.. It's what sustains. You give it and expect nothing in return. If you and I both commit and give 100% of ourselves to each other..... expecting nothing in return.... and mean it... neither of us ever NEED for anything... because we will already have it. That is commitment and trust! I love you because I choose too. It's not based on what you do... It's based on my choice and my commitment to love you no matter the circumstances. You commit to the same of your own accord.... and we love and trust each other because of it.
