In my life family comes first and as corny as it sounds I try to live by the Golden Rule. I'm calm and gentle, reasonably bright and have been told I am articulate and almost too smooth with words -- unavoidable I suppose since I like to write and have formal education in that area. My ideal woman would appreciate and value emotional and physical intimacy; she'd anticipate and be pleased by common romantic gestures and special moments; and she would have to be committed to the idea of sharing one pillow and all her dreams with just one man for the rest of her life.

I enjoy many kinds of music but don't care for rap, gangsta, or heavy metal. I can be comfortable dressed casually or formally; like the symphony as much as classic wax singles at home on the couch; and enjoy evenings out or picnics in front of the fireplace.

First dates are minefields so I like to take things slowly and allow for the chance that we are both a bit nervous. A simple dinner at a nice restaurant with the right ambiance where we can sit and talk is my first choice. Candlelight and a touch of privacy; cloth napkins and a glass of wine perhaps; and just a warm and inviting atmosphere where my date feels she can say or ask anything. For me it's all about the chance to feel safe. On the second date we'd aim for fun and relaxation. But even on the first date I'm sure there would be laughter and lots of smiles if we clicked.
