About Me
Let's save us all some time. If your not petite, smart & minimal . . . don't read any further! If you are all the above than you will know how to search my "bonafides" based on information below. Then . . . if you think we have a chance of connecting, write and I will respond. Here's my story. I am essentially a "cultural anthropologist" specializing in videography.
I was born in "Hell’s Kitchen" near the center of New York City. As a kid I was an actor appearing in many early TV shows, including "Captain Video" which had a tangible effect on my life perspective. Here is a sample of my writing. http://vidiots.us
In 1954 my family rocketed, in our Oldsmobile 88, to Whittier, California, where I spent my formative years. Served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era with stateside assignments, ending up as a photographer for the 52nd Fighter Wing. Went on to Rochester Institute of Technology graduating in 1970 [cum laude] with a BS in Professional Photography.
After college I returned to Southern California to begin a career as a filmmaker and screenwriter. While in Hollywood I wrote the seminal article on the word “videography” and formed the original Videography Studios, producing the state-of-the-art in video commercials, music videos, broadcast series/documentaries, and special effects sequences. Our influence on how video is produced was profound and continues today . . . I like to think of myself as adaptive and by the early 1980s as the video production business got glutted with competition, I decided it was time to go tropical :)
In 1982 I moved to Maui, where [as fate would have it] I dreamed up the world's premiere downhill bicycle adventure. While living and working in Lahaina I got the nickname “Cruiser Bob,” from local kids who loved my Schwinn Cruisers. Cruiser Bob's Maui downhill bike tours became a highly successful business that allowed me to embrace my passion for world travel and adventure. Between 1988-1992 I made two round-the-world [RTW] tours with my bicycle [planes, trains, buses and ferries] and cameras documenting the way people around the globe live. Please don't be put off by my youthful penchant for RTW bicycle adventure. We all mellow a bit as we "season" out :)
During my first RTW tour I met and eventually married a wonderful lady who joined me on my travels. After only three years together unbelievably she was suddenly diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. I have been single since her passing in 1992.
My enduring hope is to find a partner who shares my passion for production and who believes that, as a team, we can help make a difference in the future of our culture. These days I am involved in community activism to improve the culture of Oceanside, California.
I am "casting" in Plenty of Fish for an independent woman who is petite and fit, with a bright and content mind. My ideal partner would be spiritual but not follow a set belief system. She would have time to travel and would share my spirit of romance and adventure. My "soulmate to be" sees the big picture yet is good with details, appreciates balance, and is a good communicator. Collaboration and mutual adoration are my idea of the perfect romance.
