I am 54 years old, 6'0", blond hair (& touch of gray), blue eyes, and a devoted father of three teenaged children (one off to college), who live with me every other week, leaving me time to pursue other interests...

I grew up in a Catholic household and possess a sound moral compass- but characterize myself as more 'spiritual than religious'...perhaps you might even call me evangelical agnostic! (just kidding)...

For the past 30 years, I have been a staff photojournalist at a major daily newspaper and still love my profession as much as when I first began. The extraordinary experiences and diverse folks from all walks of life I meet continue to enlighten me and the insights acquired along the way have helped keep my perspective on the world a positive one.

I am curious, creative, and playful by nature, and easily recognize the humor and blessings in the commonplace. Some of my oldest friends go all the way back to kindergarden days, so you can believe I take my friends and family seriously . I can bring out the best in a total stranger, or make a new friend unexpectedly.

I never take the beauty of the natural world for granted, appreciate each season and the intense storms they can each bring. I make time for hiking, swimming, kayaking, biking, and love exploring anywhere unfamiliar, whether in my own neighborhood, greater NYC, or foreign places. I love to devise some small adventure, and know full well it doesn't necessarily take any money to make it a memorable one...the best in life is still free!

I am passionate about music, art, architecture, design, cinema, performing arts, horticulture and history. Growing up a photographer and musician, I prefer the visual and performing arts more than the competitive sports world, but I also admire a spirited performance in any dramatic sports playoff, Tour de France or Olympic level competition. I closely follow a wide spectrum of music genres, appreciate the true artists, and I am always on the lookout for live acoustic shows and new talent unfamiliar to me...

I enjoy media streams like NPR, WNYC, PBS, HBO, Slate.com and The NYT. I can cook you a fine meal, bake a variety of yeast breads and brew numerous styles of beer.

I'm considered sincere, funny, resourceful, empathetic, insightful, respectful, and sensitive ... I am perfectly comfortable with my own solitude, but rather appreciate the company of a thoughtful bright woman to explore life and enjoy it's unscheduled humor. I realize interpersonal 'chemistry' is an unpredicatable component of the overall attraction equation, so I keep an open mind and carry absolutely no expectations...
