Dolphins are not fish, but I'm glad they give us the option!
Sorry to say, I am on the bench with a rare back injury. Dating is out of the question at the moment, but my brain efficiency is still about 87%. No harm in getting ready to meet that light at the end of the tunnel- went to a private clinic to meet the (only in BC) neurosurgeon who seems to have minimal access surgical skill. He has looked over my latest needle emg's and Ct scan and ordered a few more tests, but has yet to put me on his long list of MSP patients. My GP has promised to beg him to fix me up when he gets back from his holidays mid-month. Keep me on your list, if you put me on it, cause I'm planning a BIG comeback ASAP or maybe sooner!
God, I miss singing with the swing band.
Normally, I'm very active, hoping to get retraining as I cannot work in a group home or otherwise do direct patient care. I have always gravitated to health care, and was a paramedic when I was younger. Now I am looking forward to something less physically demanding, but still active- becoming a laboratory technician assistant, or possibly a professional digital makeup artist. No matter what, I'd never be happy at a desk job (Even though I have the smarts to be management material, I've never been attracted to positions "above" the rest of my coworkers, so lack management experience).
Besides having a job I like, I always keep fit (emotionally as well as physically) by doing a regular exercise program five days a week. I have a great many solitary hobbies when I'm single, such as reading and painting, but I'm looking forward to other things.
I love camping, boating, riding horses and bikes. I love to sing, and have a lead singer position in a local all-volunteer big band. We do music from the 40's and 50's, when jazz was about romance and dancing. At least I hope they haven't replaced me with someone permanently. Other music I love is Led Zepeelin, Van Morrison, Seal, Julie Crochetiere, Thomas Dolby, Aretha, Stevie, Elvis,T. Rex, Bjork, etc.
I like old movies on TCM, documentaries, and the animal planet. I was proudly "reality show-FREE," until I recently started watching "True Beauty." Favourite network shows include Bones, ER, Criminal Minds, and Dexter. I honestly just CANNOT do sit-comedy, and the only 30-minute show I like is "The United States of Tara."
Family is very important to me. My Mom passed away in January of 2006, but my Dad, sister, and two brothers are all in Portland Oregon. We are very close and we have at least 2-3 phone calls per week. I adore my niece and nephew, and miss them especially because they need a person's presence more than a voice on a phone.
I'm conservative morally but politically lean to the left where democracy, equal rights, and tolerance abide.
I ADORE ANIMALS and hate that I'm not allowed pets in this building. I grew allergic to cats (still love them at a distance), but would really like to have a dog someday.
Hope that's enough for now. (It was much shorter, but red lettering showed up and suggested my profile might be "lame.")
I like to go for walks in the green urban spaces, in the afternoon for a first date. By the paler color of the sunny sky, I know that Autumn will soon be on the way and it is a wonderful time to be outdoors at least part of the day. I love the look, feel, sound, and especially the smell of dead leaves being crushed underfoot, and the smell of wood burning fireplaces as dusk settles in,
