About Me
Hello. I'm a reasonably nice guy, looking for a reasonably nice, light-hearted lass. A Holly GoNotTooLightly sorta gal. A Myrna Loy.
I live in New Jersey and work in New York. I have many interests:
-- I read books.
-- Watch a game at the pub. (I'm originally from the Philly area, so Philly teams are my thing.)
-- Spend an evening at the Met, gazing at Attic amphora and portraits by Sargent.
-- Scales and arpeggios at the piano.
-- Run a few nights a week.
-- Browse used bookstore/cafes.
-- Make things. I am a wizard with a box of Bisquick and a toaster oven. (I can make biscuits AND pancakes!)
Also, I'm partial to women that wear Ann Taylor.
And if you ask nicely, I will sing Sinatra for you. Or not, if that is your preference. :)
First Date
Eat and walk. Be casual. We could eat at some little restaurant in SOHO, with a table on the sidewalk. (It is a cool day.) And then we walk a ways. Maybe through Central Park. (We've taken a train uptown. Or hailed a cab. It's your call.) We pass over that bowed wooden bridge you always see in movies. We stop at the top, and look over the water for a while. A turtle swims below.
Suddenly, a toy poodle dashes off from its owner, an old woman, and we chase after it for her. We run over hedges through fields of grass, you casting off your flip-flops for speed. We catch the poodle and return it to its grateful owner. Out of breath and sweaty, we find cool shade beneath the broad branches of a Linden tree, and rest a while against its trunk. We watch the people pass. We chat. You talk about Jane Austen and Erica Jong. I discuss Thomas Hardy and John Updike.
Now it's time for a drink and a small bite. You take a Manhattan, and I order a Scotch on the rocks. We talk some more. After, we walk through random streets, not saying a word, but enjoying the life of the city at night. The sudden coolness. I walk you to your door (or Subway stop) and receive a peck on the cheek. I wish you good night, and walk off, beaming.
[Second Date: We can watch Pushing Daisies together.]
[Third Date: I will play Chopin Nocturnes, and you will look wistfully out the window, a snifter of cognac resting delicately between the fingers of your upturned hand.]

[Seventh Date: We go to Lincoln Center to hear breath-taking performances of Beethoven and Mahler. I like the Mahler, but I really came for the Beethoven. You like the Beethoven, but you really came for the Mahler. After, we slosh Vodka Tonics and rock out to Guitar Hero III. I admire your delicate finger-work playing Smashing Pumpkins.]

[Twelfth Date: I will chase you down the powdery-white mountains of Killington. And I'll be pretty far behind. I'm a very slow skier. Almost comically slow. But you'll wait patiently for me at the bottom. And I'll thank you.]

[Nineteenth Date: I shall lie on the couch, reading the newspaper with my head on your lap, and you shall pet my hair and feed me grapes. ;) ]
