Well so much for humor. Everyone's read it so that's that. Maybe I'll bring back the POF drinking game some other time. Perhaps its time to lay the cards out on the table and read them.
I own a small bookstore in Chardon. I am scanning the horizon looking for new challenges both personally and professionally.
I have eclectic taste in music, literature and spirituality. While I have a very deep and passionate side of me, I also like football, classic cars, shooting sports and tramping around the country looking for adventure.
And also, would you believe, an incurable romantic?
I just got a shot to the ribs from a friend of mine on that - "tell the ladies more about your romantic side!!!" OK, OK (ouch, that'll leave a mark). Seriously, I, um, like those out of the way places where you can listen to the night sounds, open a bottle of wine, light a few candles and, well, you know.
Remember the end of the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's?" Seriously, didn't you always want it to be like that? Didn't that scene in the rain just tear your heart out?
Me too.
I enjoy verbal give and take. Intelligence ranks very high with me as most people in our culture have accepted their dumbing down without much complaint. I don't mince words and I don't suffer fools (for too long) unless they're paying customers. If you're of similar orientation, contact me.
Ah, well, that seems pretty severe. I'm really a big softie when you get to know me. I'm just looking for the mysterious lady with the enchanting manner and razor sharp intelligence.
And let's not even go into that 'glass half full/empty' dichotomy. It's a false choice pushed by people who want the world to believe how full of bubbly optimism they are as if it somehow makes them better people than those who see life realistically. What if the solution to this eternal puzzle is to make the best of what you have in the glass - even though maybe it's only 1/4th full?
I'm neither a Democrat or Republican - another false choice. Why do people limit themselves so? Why are people so afraid to think outside the box? I guess boxes are comfortable but I don't like being in them. I'm a crypto-anarchist-pagan. How's that for a mind bender?
Try this:
"Most are engaged in business the greater part of their lives, because the soul abhors a vacuum and they have not discovered any continuous employment for man's nobler faculties." Henry David Thoreau
Oh for the record, my kids are 19 and 17 and don't live with me. But they're great boys, just ask them.
First Date
I'm sick of coffee dates but what can one do? We live in paranoid times. Everyone thinks everyone is some kind of potential ax murderer. Oh well. I don't even own an ax. If YOU own an ax I think that's a turn on. We can go chop firewood.
I do wish the coffee shops east of Cleveland were more comfortable and condusive to conversation. Frankly they're boring, loud and like most public spaces in NE Ohio, the architecture sucks.
I'm open for anything that doesn't require television.
