About Me
New and improved for 09! (read past this old opener) Greetings, Seeking a down to earth woman...vegetarian, H/W/P, nonsmoker, no drugs (including pot), consumes little or no alcohol. She lives a natural, basic, simple life style (or as close as one can this day and age). This exceptional woman is looking for the same qualities in a 63 y/o single man. Thank you.
I recently received a couple of pointers from, I suppose, the plentyoffish administrator suggesting that if I want to be successful at this and not waste my time I should add to my profile the following topics: 1. Talk about my hobbies, 2. Talk about my goals and aspirations, 3. Talk about myself and what makes me unique, and # 4. My taste in music. OK, will do. Thank you Markus for the tips.
1/09 update (the long version) My initial entry (see above) does seem vague, or maybe too strict, and what does natural, basic and simple mean? Well I suppose my thoughts were on the lines of drying the wash outdoors, recycling, trying to use less. Wearing natural fibers instead of polyester. Forget simple, nothing seems simple when compared to the "old days". I am still "set in my ways" about a vegetarian - cannot deal with eating flesh. H/W/P - a basic inclination. I fight eating too much to stay in 33” waist pants, so I know how hard it is for some. I appreciate the effort it takes. Nonsmoking - a no brainier with all the data out there why smoke? Drugs / Pot – I do not want to be around illegal substances. Drug laws are tough, and bad on your record. I am a freelancer and still have to work, no telling when a security clearance may be needed. Alcohol - I have been around my share of the negative effects of too much alcohol, not real comfortable with how it affects the human body. Red wine is supposed to be good for ones heart so what do I know.
Hobbies: Attempt at wildflower & vegetable gardening. Feed the birds, chipmunks, rabbits, and squirrels (not much gardening, my "friends" dig out what I dig in). Sketch once in a while. Play about 4 songs on a banjo poorly (too many other interests). Photography, it was the hobby that turned out to be the foundation for my profession. There is always some sort of utilitarian woodworking or metalworking project in the works. Last but certainly not least, trying to keep the building code folks off my back while attempting to rebuild/finish an earth bermed post & beam home designed and built (by hand) by my parents in the 50's.
Goals and aspirations: Three biggies; finish the previously mentioned home. Photograph a meaningful motion picture before I croak. Find a woman that can put up with my idiosyncrasies. I might add I am aware changes may have to be made on my part to fulfill the last point, changes I am more then willing to address. Let’s see, did I say I was 32…just kidding, 63 it is.
About myself and what makes me unique: I think I pretty well covered this item addressing the first two points. Other then that I can only add, I am honest, work hard, don't quit, and always try to do things to the best of my ability, which sometimes really sloooows things down. I finally voted for a presidential candidate that actually won.
Music (and screen tastes): I'll listen to most anything public / community radio has to offer until it gets on my nerves then silence is best. Emmylou Harris, John Prine, Arlo Guthrie (his dad too), Kate Bush, old time banjo tunes (claw-hammer style), Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee, Don Shirley Trio, Glen Miller, Singer/songwriters, new and old, classical, jazz (until the sax starts tootling) along with many other artists and styles. I'll watch most any theatrical release be it fictional or documentary. Whale Rider is worth renting if you haven't seen it. TV - PBS. St. Louis has a good community radio station, KDHX.org, Saturday morning "Backroads" is a good singer/songwriter show.
There you go, more then you ever wanted to know. If you got this far, thanks for slogging through all the blah, blah, blah. I clicked dating but hopefully long-term if things work out.
Cheers, Eric (not Norton, Norton is an English motorcycle I rode in the late 70's)
