blacksmith, wordsmith, mechanic, academic neophyte, teacher, student, friend, lover, leftist, environmentally concerned, socially concerned, single. i like the quiet places. i like thinking people can surprise you. i like truisms in literature and lyric. i like to read by moonlight. i like walking the quilted neighborhoods of toronto. i like dog-eared books of poetry. i love the water, i love the stars, i love the outdoors. most of all, i love sharing it all with good company. my politics are left-leaning; my emotions are finely tuned and passionate; my memories of past loves are fond and sweet; my musical tastes run from woodstock psychedelia to acid jazz to oscar peterson and louis armstrong; my heart is on my sleeve and though that's lost me my shirt a couple times, i cant imagine living any other way.

i have just completed a four-year restoration of a vintage VW Microbus. it has affected me in ways i never thought it would and taught me life-lessons i had never thought i would learn. the tremendous emotional investment and sacrifice and the joy mixed with panic and apprehension of failing can only be compared to parenthood. the gift of a child's smile and the reaction my bus gets from people are distantly but undeniably similar. ive resolved to find the love of my life before ever considering children, but i can imagine what awaits now. at the very least, i have shown myself and the world that i can accomplish great things that bring joy to others.

i'm not perfect. i'm not looking for perfect. i am looking for one woman who is compatible with me and is willing to work towards building a long-term relationship together, but i am open to friendship with anyone. i dont have any other terms. if you are kind, and ready to accept good people in your life as i am, i will be here for you. i measure success in life by our relationships with other people, not our achievements or wealth. i have a great career that i love and i am lucky enough to be able to pursue my dreams outside of work, but the people in my life... my family and my friends... are what matter most to me.

i am looking for companionship and good company, soft kisses if the moon is right, and low pressure. a solid relationship takes time and trust to develop. anything quiet and mellow is an excellent venue for a first meeting. as for dates? let's talk, it will all work out. i know this little place...
