Well, cramming yourself into this little box is a little under-representative, but here it goes: I enjoy camping; don't go as often as I wish, fishing; I catch and release (seafood...yuck!!), four wheeling, mudding, trail riding, biking sightseeing, etc. (this list could go on for way too long. Basically, I like being outdoors. Heck, I've worked outside everyday for the past seven years, until last year, now I'm in sales and grudgingly admit to enjoy air conditioning!
As much as I enjoy the outside, I do like a cozy fire and a nest of blankets on the couch. With a good movie, a favourite album, or a fierce battle of ice hockey on the Nintendo, a night in could be just as enjoyable as any night out. I'm slow-going in the morning (maybe even grumpy) and would rather sleep in, if I could. I could eat pasta daily, am a sucker for Count Chocula (kinda like kryptonite) and, Ben & Gerry's Cherry Garcia (you've got to be good for me to share that!). I love Scotch and Guinness (especially with a Sheppard’s pie) but I don't drink regularily. I'd rather walk through our sugar bush in knee-deep snow, than wade through the mall on weekends. Whenever possible I'll veer off the highway to see what the country roads have to show, even it takes longer and have no idea where I'll end up.
I'm a bit of a car buff, from antiques and rods, to bikes and trucks... it's incurable. I have a few vehicles. An ’05 Jeep Rubicon and an ’02 Ford Super Duty as my daily drivers (big toys really), and a couple of projects, a '66 jeep that I'm starting to build with my dad, and an '82 Rx7 (my first car) that I tinker with. I also have a four-wheeler, an '86 Honda 250R, which I restored from a near basket case, and as I've been told "spend more time tinkering with, than riding it...” Going to car shows, races, or just bombing around the back-fields are all good weekends in my book!
My main distraction however, tends to be my guitars. I have been playing since I started grade six. I remember my Dad dug out the old record player and set the needle down on Deep Purple's Lazy - I was transfixed and have been hooked ever since... Mostly I play classic-blues-rock-metal mix, but I can play just about everything, practice as often as possible, and have way too many (not enough) guitars and f/x pedals.
I'm pretty old-fashioned, don't really go for bars, especially not clubs, and would rather kick back with a few close friends than hit the town. Going for a drive of any length is always fun, especially if roads are left behind, and new ones found or made.
I am probably a little different than you average guy. As I stated before, I like to talk, and sometimes go off topic on ‘related tangents’. (I took a year of philosophy at Carleton, and concluded that, although I enjoyed my subjects, I didn’t want to live in the city -where most of the jobs of which I’d be headed for were, and really missed the country.) Some say I like playing ‘left field’, I just tell them to think about it! Huh? …Maybe I'll tell you sometime, besides I think I’m running out of space in this little box here, and I prefer being 'outside' anyways! ;) That's all for now, bye!
