About Me
I would go out tonight, but I haven't got a thing to wear.

I enjoy practicing classical guitar and work hard at it. I like all kinds of music but classical is what I want to play. I like to cook and enjoy trying new things and finding new flavor pairings. Also, cooking for others is how I tend to show affection. I find working out it is great way to deal with stress and something I really enjoy. I'm usually fairly active but I also can really enjoy just sitting at home and making a nice meal or reading a good book, wine helps with both.

I enjoy going hiking and experiencing/appreciating the natural beauty of the area I live in. Garland Ranch in Carmel Valley in the fall is amazing, Big Sur and Point Lobos are wonderful as well. I also like to contemplate various intellectual quandries as well as read some pretty nerdy books (Collapse-Jared Diamond, 1941-Michael Mann, Botany of Desire-Michael Pollan, Team of Rivals-Doris Goodwin, War and Peace-Leo Tolstoy). If you are familiar with RadioLab from WNYC radio and This American Life then I'm ready to move in together.

Beware combing beaches with a marine bio nerd, especially at low tide. While I am currently working for the federal government administering a scholarship, I am also about to start pursuing my masters degree in marine science. The take home message being that yes I am ambitious/intelligent but I also won't necessarily have a vast amount of free time. I'm just really looking for someone who would like to hang out and maybe do a few things together. Well, that last sentence isn't entirely true but it gets at a larger point so I'll leave it in and clarify. I am interested in really spending time with someone but the desire to do so must be born out of a series of mutual interests and joy in the other's company. Simply deciding that I want something long term and applying that idea would, in my opinion, waste a lot of honest fun that could be had even if things don't necessarily go in that direction. Smokers need not apply as I am cancer prone and cannot hold my breath that long.

Oh and I realize that most photos I've posted of me on here are of me in suits but honestly I am most often found in a t-shirt and jeans, it's just I don't currently have a camera and even when I did I'm not into self photography so those are the ones of me I have. Also be warned that most of them are about 4 years old.

First Date
Well an honest first date isn't really that instructive in this case. To be frank, while other options might be more exciting, the nature of this kind of encounter is that we don't really know each other. Thus, a chance to sit somewhere quiet and talk about whatever mutual interests/attractions brought us to the initial face to face would be a good start. However, something that reveals much more about myself goes as follows:

It was a cold Sunday evening. I had just completed the initial stages of a particularly tasty chicken noodle soup recipe and now had ~50 minutes to kill before it would be ready. I was somewhat tired out, it was cold in my apartment but that's how I like it. So bundled up in my thick winter pajamas I lounged on my couch, reading a very fun book, occasionally looking out my living room window at the lights of Sand City reflecting on the bay, listening to Miles Davis (Kind Of Blue), and smelling the wonderful aromas of my soup as it simmered. While a good half of the time I am more active, that was a damn near perfect Sunday evening. I just wish I had someone to share it with. So if that sounds like the kind of laid back, relaxed fun you enjoy, we might have something. If you cannot understand why anyone would want to do anything so boring, then we might not click.
