I've been off and on the site for a while now... I meet a few new people, then I take a break for a bit, then I jump back in again. It seems that most of the people I meet on here don't seem to do well when they are not the center of a woman's universe. Guys tend to kind of drift off into oblivion after a while when they realize that I have more going for me than just my dating life. I'm still looking for someone who doesn't fit that stereotype and in the mean time I know I can usually find something to fill my kid free nights if I end up 'dateless'.

Ok, now a little about me.....

I consider myself a pretty laid back and fun gal to be around. Most guys consider me to be a pretty 'low maintenance' kind of gal. I am usually happier relaxing at a booth at Blueberry Hill than I am shakin' it out on the dance floor at a local club. But I can be talked into a night of dancing on occasion. I enjoy all kinds of movies from classics and foreign films to the latest comedy or drama releases. In the summer I enjoy going on picnics at local parks, listening to live local musicians, heading out for a nice walk, or just relaxing in my pool. I also managed to get my motorcycle running again this past summer, so I am excited about having the occasional chance to ride it when the weather is nice. During these colder months I tend to spend my time indoors with a glass of wine (or hot cocoa) and a good movie. With a child at home I don't always have the freedom to go out on a whim, so I also enjoy being a member of Netflix and watching a movie after my boy goes to bed.

Ok, well I would certainly prefer to steer clear of the typical 'dinner and a movie' date. It's so overdone. Not to mention that a movie is not exactly what I would call an interactive experience.

Ideally, I tend to lean more towards something more interactive like a trip to the art museum followed either by drinks or a picnic in the park depending on the time of year. The art museum is a place where you can be entertained while still allowing you to talk. It lets you to get to know someone, and it gives you something in common to talk about over drinks or a picnic lunch. It's also a very versatile kind of first date. It can be something fairly formal, where you get dressed up, tour the museum and then head for 'cocktails.' Or it can be a pretty casual jeans and a t-shirt type of date with a stroll through the park afterwards. The great thing about an art museum date, is that it can be whatever the two of you decide to make it.

Usually though such a date isn't very practical for a first meeting (weather, timing, etc.). Meeting for drinks is usually a good standard first date. It gives you a chance to talk a bit, see how two people 'click' and if things don't work out, there's no pressure to stick around for too long. Not to mention you don't have to spend a ton of money just to figure out that you two really click better online than off, or that the other person really does have a third eye that they just airbrushed out on their online photo. Another up side is that if you do hit it off after drinks, you can always decide to go grab a bite to eat or something after your initial meeting. Nothing wrong with saying 'Hey, this is really fun, want to continue this over a bite to eat?'
