About Me
Hello and thanks for reading... After living in various parts of the country for the past 20-odd years, I returned home to PIT about a year ago, and I have a great job working from home supporting local start-up medical technology companies. Places here are familiar, but alot has changed. I'm interested in finding someone special to share quality time with, and to explore some the hidden gems of Da Burgh.
I am a writer, I love word-play, yet writing about myself is a challenging assignment. I'm non-materialistic, very easy going, independent, non-judgmental, and non-controlling. I try to find humor in most every day - and usually in myself - life is serious enough, we don't have to add to it!
What little COACH baggage is remaining from past relationships has been shipped off to a different airport, and I chose not to board that flight. I value family and friends, and believe honesty is always the best policy. Respect, trust, and open communication (not to mention Truth, Justice, the American Way, Superman, and apple pie with a really good cuppa coffee....) are keys to any lasting relationship. Dogs love me, and for some unknown reason, cats seem to tolerate me.
Travelled... I've been to Europe, been to Japan - loved the sushi! but haven't had blowfish yet, and would go back in a heartbeat. I swoon for California wineries and the Desert Southwest. With 3500+ songs in the iPod, music is important to me - everything from early Michael Stanley, Dire Straits, Lazy Dog, Miguel Migs, DMB, Shawn Colvin, Andrea Bocelli, Stevie Ray, and Los Lobos to Los Lonely Boys.
I can still throw flour 'round the kitchen, but it's just not much fun alone... I need a test pilot... I love spicy food esp. mexican and indian, and my Tex-Mex-Cyclone-Chili is nearly famous. Red wine, esp. Italian, is a fav of mine, so it's a major plus if you're willing to explore grape juice with me. I believe that bocce ball is a contact sport. I am fearless on home improvement projects, which means that they usually escalate - often badly. I have the twisted perception that someday my home will resemble Falling Water, but until then it's the Money Pit.
I enjoy raising tropical plants (lemons, limes, black figs, blood oranges, more...), hiking, biking on the Montour Trail, sporting events, Steelers, Cleve Cavaliers, and now Pens (just learning 'bout that puck thingy), cirque du soleil, and quiet evenings at home - chillin' with the dog & watching a movie...
Ideally, I'm looking for The One (that would be YOU) - mind, body, and soul healthy, half-is-glass-full, open-minded, intelligent, worldly, and yet down-to-earth. I thrive around people that are optimistic and equally quick witted, so a slightly twisted sense of humor is a must! I have learned the art of truly enjoying simple moments in life and hope to find someone that also lives this way. I live for a great cup of morning coffee, an even greater glass of red wine in the evening, and the best companion to share them with; right now that's (still) my dog.
It'd be great to meet someone here to share in some of those moments and a common interest or three... Ultimately, my goal is a real and lasting relationship, but it has to start out as friends. "Letting things develop naturally" is not the same as email/messaging/ talking for months-on-end without meeting - I'm just not interested in those time wasters. If it doesn't work to an LTR, I'm sure that I will have met some great friends along the way.
Initially, I can be terminally shy, but that lasts for about 10 minutes... So if I've had you laugh at any of this, please don't hesitate to add-to-favorites or drop a note... it'd be great to hear from you, and please include a photo.
Peace, Kimo-Jim.
First Date
(The Dreamer)... Sitting with you during a Summer evening's sunset in a 2000 year Roman amphitheater in Verona Italy, watching an aria in a language I don't understand, with dinner on our laps, and a bottle of prosecco between our feet.........
(The Realist)... First meet... coffee or breakfast - keep it simple...
First date, well, there's too much pressure on first dates - let's just skip it, an' go for the second date!
