** UPDATE ** I'm not single any more and therefore not looking any more... sorry ladies.

I'm a fairly unorthodox person with a healthy disrespect for authority and a strong belief in treating each other, our planet, and all its inhabitants, with more respect than we usually do.

I'm looking for someone who values intellect, honesty and integrity over looks, fashion sense and bling. Someone who, even if they don't share all my opinions, shares some of them and is willing to try to understand where I'm coming from when we disagree. And in return, I'll respect your opinions, and try to understand where you're coming from when we disagree.

Materially, I have everything I need; a good job which stimulates my brain and which I enjoy most of the time, my own home and all the comforts I want. But there is more to life than material wealth. I'm looking for someone to share the good things in life with, and that someone is proving difficult to find.

I'm aware of the rules for meeting an internet contact for the first time in real life, so out of necessity the first date would need to be in a public place with other people around. So I guess a weekend in a hotel somewhere nice is right out, as is an evening on the sofa with a good film, a takeaway and a bottle of wine. For the first date, anyway.

I'm open to suggestions, but what I'd suggest is a visit to a restaurant (must have a decent vegetarian selection, but you don't have to eat veggie just because I do). I like eating out, especially foreign food. Italian, Chinese & Thai (what they can do with bean curd puts western chefs to shame), Indian, Lebanese, and I'm always open to the idea of trying something new.

This could maybe be followed by a few drinks in a quiet pub. No high-density vertical drinking establishments please, I want to be able to sit down, and to talk to you without us having to yell in each other's ears to make ourselves heard.
