After strolling hand in hand along the golden sands of the tropical beach we sit down at a waterside bar. As we sip our****ails we sit in awe as we watch the sun slowly sink under the horizon, casting amazing patterns of burning red and yellow against the cloudless sky. Gentle waves of the clearest blue water crash on the beach as the palm trees sway gently in the cooling breeze. As I look across into your eyes I realise there is nowhere else on earth I would rather be or any other person I would rather be with right now.

It is a cold, dark Sunday afternoon in November. Outside the rain is pouring down and a gale force wind is blowing but inside we are lovely and warm. We are snuggled up on the sofa watching the latest Rom Com film you have a tear in your eye as we reach the sad bit just before the happy ending. I am massaging your feet, concentrating more on the feel of your skin under my hands rather than the film but I am filled with joy just to be sharing your company.

I come home from work stressed out from a day of frustration. I need to talk to someone to get it out of my system and you patiently sit there listening. You look interested in hearing about my day and nod in agreement every now again as I pour out my heart. When I finish you come over and give me a big hug. Suddenly everything feels right in the world again.

I think a first date should be informal and relaxed, and not too long in case one or other of us decides to make a run for it ;-)

So maybe a couple of drinks in a quiet bar or a visit to a coffee bar; or how about a trip to a museum or art gallery. I don't mind what the setting as long as we get a chance for a good chat to get to know each other.
